Maintenance for the week of May 25:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – May 25
• ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – May 27, 6:00AM EDT (10:00 UTC) - 4:00PM EDT (20:00 UTC)

In fact, I think console users has already exceeded the PC users.

There's pretty clear evidence of Xbox NA having the largest Pvp population. This could be extrapolated to say we likely would have the largest overall population as well..

Do you think PvP is more popular on consoles, which might skew the comparison?

I do not see any fact there. I was disappointed with that since the title does in fact state "in fact". If someone is going to claim something is a fact then, well, facts should be present rather than extrapolating opinions from generalized statements that have no weight behind them.

The statement "In fact, I think" is a dead clue that it is not a fact but just an attempt to put extra drama into the title.

Considering there are 2 console platforms to every PC platform I would expect the overall console numbers to exceed those on PC. If not then Consoles would be considered a failure.

Considering I play with a number of players, from moderate to very much top players, who have defected from console to PC I expect there has not no significant uptick of console players since the Firor interview.

I'm not surprised. There's always been a larger console player base than PC player base. It does mean the game will continue down the simplified play since consoles are limited on input methods. But what happens when the next generation comes. Will they switch over to the new one or will the numbers be too low to bother by that point. I've played EverQuest for almost two decades now. There's not even a console that's lasted that long except in name. You may have the numbers but not the longevity even if they do switch. Consoles always have something new and better coming. PCs are the only systems that keep going as long as the servers remain. I can even play Arena on the same system I play ESO on. Once a console can do that, then I'll be impressed (and might even buy one).

I'd say ZOS should be commended for successfully bringing a major AAA MMO over to consoles, with an as good as possible UI and controller feel as you can get these days.

Now if only Sony wasn't so greedy, we could have cross-platform games. MS has said they'd be open to allowing cross-platform titles with PC and PS4, but Sony is only open to doing cross-platform with PC.

I wouldn't want cross platform play until they can stop memory hacking. I've made a conscious choice to remain on console because of the cheat engine fiasco
I would want cross platform between consoles than with PC.Fighting Some of the PS4 players would be fun.Would like to fight @GreenSoup2HoT or @Strider_Roshin or have a BG match with them.

The reason for this is simple. Consoles really don't have many MMOs. This game competes with all the big boys on pc. On console its pretty much unchallenged.
Pc gaming itself in general is more popular than console. Also the pc ecosystem is very different. After I swapped to pc I noticed that a LOT of the old school players were still around. On xbox, most people have left or moved on already, and the game hasn't even been out as long there. Make of that what you will.

That's fine that you feel that way, but it doesn't discredit my opinion. I'd prefer not to play on a platform where memory hacking is so easy because for me, knowing that there are people, no matter how much I practice or improve, who simply have an insurmountable unfair advantage because they're cheating does indeed ruin the experience for me. I have a PC that can run eso, I just prefer a platform without cheat engine, there are enough bugs to abuse already

Just so you know, console is not as clean as you think.I used to think the same, until a friend showed me how some team is working on cracking the xbox in the same way the 360 was cracked (Jtag/NAND dump). Also macros are rampant with the use of things like cmax plus.

And this is an old thread, there is plenty more.
Sure, these things are not so easy to do, but neither is using cheat engine undetected, which is why its so rare to see. I've been on pc for 6 months now and have never seen a CE user in pvp.

Yeah the population is bound to take a hit with destiny 2, sea of theives, kingdom come deliverance, tera, etc. Lots of games coming to console that target this sort of "mmo" player.

But contrary to all of this, XBox EU has seemed unusually quiet to me most nights now. I was in Wayrest at peak time (9PM UK Time) the other night, and I am not joking when I say the wayshrine and guild trader area was totally deserted bar myself and 2 others.

However, If I go on my guild figures, they average around 100 each online during peak times, so about 500 players.

One of the things I am seeing now also though is more people simply parking their characters in the home, and running groups for dungeons and trials from there.

Not to be flippant, but commended for bringing this game over to consoles? It is so obvious that they designed this game all along with console play in mind; note the limited UI? A clear nod toward the buttons on console controllers.

Yet we pc users were the test skeevers, so bugs could be worked out for that smooth console play.

I for one, am getting tired of games that limit my slots to 5 to accommodate console controllers. I truly wish there could be two forms of UI, one with 5 slots for consoles and 10 or more on one screen (none of this weapon flipping business) for we pc users.

Nevertheless, I am glad that console users are able to experience ESO.

He said it was divided 30/30/30 among the three major platforms. That means he already said that there were more on console than PC.

PvP community is bigger on console while PvE community is INSANELY bigger in PC.

I would say both communities are very big and I'm happy about it, it means the game is healthy!

I assumed it would of been more towards pc, i play on ps4 (if i could afford a decent pc, id be there lol) but i guess at the end of the day, come home, pop disc in and play, i like that, what i don't like about eso is the DOWNLOAD sizes for consoles, tuesday will be a nightmare, nevertheless, who sits and checks out these figure's? We all playing eso, and someone mentioned cross platform, you mean eso, 3 platforms, think the servers would explode

Multiplat games always have more players on console than on PC because there are simply more console gamers than PC gamers (we're taking about a $500 pre-built gaming device vs. a $1500 one that you have to build yourself). Sure the PC gaming experience is infinitely superior, but most people are casual gamers who don't care or they can't afford a gaming PC.

yeah but that's not even true... there are far more PC players out there... the problem you're not accounting for is that the majority of PC players ARE casuals. They bought PCs because their friends told them games were cheaper, they went on Steam - bought Hatoful Boyfriend 75% off and then never played anything else again. The numbers are there though - there's far, far more PC gamers out there - just not as many serious ones as consoles might have. (That's debatable because no way to measure it).

I think another factor is that ESO rarely budges in price - PC players seem to have some sort of mentality that if it's not 50%+ off on Steam, then there's no reason to buy it.

I also own a gaming PC, better than my PS4 Pro - so I'm not coming at this from a console fanboy stance.

When I used to play on Xbox the game always seemed emptier of players. Less people running around, less evident RPing etc. When I started playing on PC I was blown away by how lively it is in even the minor towns.

Would be cool to get some actual numbers in this sort of stuff rather than vague percentages. These sorts of stats are always really interesting.

I'm sure each platform has a healthy population.

We know it's staying pretty popular on PS4 as ESO+ stays in the top Add-ons each month. I'm sure Xbox and PC would have similar stats. Morrowind has already brought back a lot of players that quit when IC came out (from my small sample size of friends) and I'm sure there will be new ones too..

We pass PC a long time ago.

It was anounced each platform has 300k active users. And I would bet it's even lower on pc.

    Cheers!
