Cant find groups being a DPS, but can when Healer.

I run a Templar of 583cp and i have been mixing my skills up with gear, I started off a healer and I got into groups and dungeons so easy, within seconds of doing the activity finder. So after a few months I thought Id change it up a bit and do damage, but soon as I did, I could not get into any groups, Its like there is a huge shortage of healers on this game and everyone does damage. So I had to change back to being a healer and what do ya know, i got straight into a group again doing dungeons. Fell like im being punished for being a Templar and doing damage. Cost me alot to change my skills up, but now I know I shud just stick to being a healer as I can get in everywere and people always need healers rather then alot of people needing DPS.

Tanks are even more scarce. I get assigned to multiple groups within seconds when using the group finder.

Everyone and their dog thinks they can DPS so there are ton of them in the group finder and very few tanks and healers. Most builds created and posted are for DPS roles and not for other two since people view them as "simple" and "easy"

Exactly the problem. Way to many people play dps due to this also being the preferred setup for solo play. Healers and tanks almost always have instant groups, while dps stays in the queue forever (and complains that the finder is broken). Since this game offers no incentives to healers and tanks to compensate for the extra cost of changing skills/champion points (other than faster queue times) and no mechanic to easily switch roles, this problem will keep on existing, and if you want to use the group finder, your only options will be tank or healer (both of which a templar can do perfectly fine).

Part of the issue is it is easier for a competent player to carry the group as a dps. For example when I want to run a dungeon with friends/guildies, we never have that issue, we all have tanks and/or healers we like playing, but if any of us pug, it will 90% be on a dps. Because a 30k dps can pretty much solo most vet dungeons but hf doing that as a tank or even healer if there're dps checks involved at all.

So basically it's a combination of the following issues
1)open world strictly promotes dps role, you're punishing yourself by tanking or healing your way through it basically
2)good dps is not as easy as people think but dps role is very straightforward so between that and dpsing your way through open world not many actually wanna bother to try to learn other roles
3)majority of good tanks and healers either do not pug or do so strictly on their dps toons because you can still burn through most vet dungeons with a 2h medium armor healer and 15k health tank, but not so much with 10k group dps. Basically in most dungeons the competence of dps matters a lot more than that of healer/tank and competent pugs are getting more and more rare.

My advice would be to join a guild. Once people know you and know you're capable of dpsing a vet dungeon they'll happily run with you on their healers/tanks.
