Pets for stamina sorc builds?

I've heard that the pets (twilight and scamp/clannfear) only scales with magicka. Are they at all usable by stamina builds, or is it better to just ignore them.

If you're going with stamina sorc, use the Clannfear as it has more health and armor than the Imp, they're more about having as a tank distraction instead of being extra damage. The Twilight's heal is still useful though you won't get a big amount for the cost, but it can still save your life in tough situations. Another issue is that Conjured Ward also is magicka based so relying on that to shield your pets is almost worthless, that gets destroyed in a few hits.

Solo they're not bad, in groups I swap them out for Bound Armaments and Evil Hunter instead relying more on Critical Surge for healing. Use Thundering Presence instead of Conjured Ward, not nearly as effective but still better than a measly 4000 damage shield if you don't invest any points in magicka at all. Negate Magic is pretty decent with a stam sorc build since it doesn't do any damage, it does however stun/silence everything inside of it letting you whack away plus the morph I use is the triple recovery buff.

Do you still have to have the pets on your active bar to keep them summoned?

Only when solo PvE they're still useful in that manner, mainly used to distract mobs so I can fire on them safely as I play double bow or Bow/2H, when in group dungeons I swap them off my bars for Bound Armaments and Evil Hunter in their place.

Yes. So you gotta slot them in both bars, unfortunately

Hm... been wanting to make a bow/archer sorc with the pets, not sure it's going to work out all that well though.

Sorc seems to be the one class I just cant get a build I like for.

I have thought about running moulkin (or sp?) the stamina armor that summons a flying sword, and clannfear for heal and tank plus I don't think the scaling for clannfear is as dependent on magicka (like the lowest is still alright for tank damage)

I don't think I would run either version of the twilight.

The critical rating might be hard to swing tho

How is bow sorc without the pets? With critical surge, I won't have to run 2h for the brutality buff or healing, so it seems like the best option for a pure bow user.

The Clannfear's heal cost 3 times more than it cost to summon it, to heal yourself for 35% of your max health. As a stamina focused character you'll run out of magicka within 2-3 casts depending on your racial choices.

Up to VR16 I love it even with their drawbacks, without pets you'll be doing more kiting. While the pets aren't high damage, they still pull their weight by drawing mobs away from you. Dolmen for example you can stick the clannfear on those stronger mobs while you clear out the weaker ones without it chasing you. It's easier to just resummon them as they die than trying to keep them alive with their active heals, just use the twilight to keep yourself healed if you do use it.

Just keep them around for solo play questing, grinding, and farming; swap them out in dungeons unless you need a backup healer or fighting bosses with a lot of trash mobs to distract. They're completely useless in PvP except maybe the Twilight if you put it on passive to heal when you need it, but then it becomes a target and a hassle to resummon.

The upside here as a Sorc you can use Overload to level other spells, freeing your two action bars of clutter. Activate Overload just before turning in quests to level those 5 extra spells, I also put Rapid Maneuver in this bar for the speed boost without having it waste space.

If the pets only scale off of Magicka and not spell damage also, this could potentially be a great build.

I put some time in trying to make a hybrid myself working with some of the formulas to calculate my max stats, and getting 30k in both Magicka and stamina pools was achieveable using hakiejos, tri food and being a dark elf (they have Passives for Magicka and stamina) while still being able to achieve good weapon damage.

Also shields only stack off of Magicka so you'll be able to run them to with a decent Magicka pool too. Your recovery won't have to be so strict either cause you'll be using resources from both pools.

Lastly, if pets don't scale from just Magicka, the clanfear still may be decent in PvE as it gives a heal based on percentage.

@psychotic13 thought about tryin to build a hybridish thing. With purp food, a few robust jewelry, and bound armaments your stam pool should be sitting pretty high, approx 20k I think, then if you had any armor or glyphs that added stam it'll get much higher, 30k ea sounds pretty reasonable though I wonder about the effectiveness of said pools.

Personally I would be more akin to MTG and be M/s. Like a magicka build with a splash of stam for (and Im just throwing things out there) say a bow.

I wanna make a silly build of:

Familiar
Matriarch
Bound Armaments
Ward
And a good stam Move or magicka move if you went with a staff or somethin

Back up would be caltrops and shuffle or somethin like that.

Mouldkin (sp?)
Maw of Infernal
And another set lol

I really like the idea of 4 pets out at once. Hell to be awesome use atronach and have 5 baddies out there.

Nice necro. The clannfear already deals physical dmg, it's a shame that it isn't a stam morph. Although I don't believe much sSorcs would use it if it doesn't add anything else it hasn't now.

The health of pets scales off your character level, not your magicka; their abilities scale off your magicka.

So a clannfear tank for a stamsorc does work okay since you don't really care about its damage. That said, it is not effective for a stamsorc to try and keep their clannfear shielded and healed like a magsorc can.

I run a bow/bow stamsorc with clannfear and a pure magsorc with clannfear and matriarch. The difference is massive in terms of keeping the pet(s) protected and healed.

If you are looking for a pet to distract some mobs, you could certainly drop bound armaments and slot a pet. If you are tying to make a viable damage build for end game, I would not mix pets and stamina. The pets wont hit hard, and neither will you since you will certainly be making sacrifices to "attempt" to make them hit hard.
