So if my Warden never talks to the person, I never lose my soul? It's weird when doing all the quests that involve you being special and not affected by triggers that would normally have consequences to those that do have souls, you're now super special in being able to resist or be completely immune while still having your soul intact!

Of course, NOT talking to him means you do not get the Main Story quest line (Prophet, Lyris, etc)

Yeah, but it's nothing new. It's just like if you do other quests out of order, dead people still being alive, people you've done several quests with acting like they just first met you.

On the other hand, this can also make some things make even more sense now too. I always felt the fighters guild storyline felt a bit strange that you being the vestige and working with the prophet to stop Molag Bal never came out of your mouth during some of those situations. Now for my new character I plan to do the fighters guild as one of things before losing my soul, and maybe explaining that as why I was targeted by the worm cult in the first place.

I just experienced the benefactor quest for the first time. I was trying out a new character just for kicks (not sure I'm going to keep her yet) in the Daggerfall Covenant. I went through Stros M'Kai and Betnikh and finally got to Daggerfall at level 12. THEN I get approached by the hooded figure. I thought I'd be approached in the first place I went once I left Vvardenfell. Once I left the Wailing Prison, the game stuck me right back in Stros M'Kai instead of putting me where I was when they grabbed me. I didn't like that.

The Wailing Prison was super easy since I had leveled up some before I got there. Slash, bash and the bad guy is dead. I do have to say that I really enjoyed the cut scene of Mannimarco killing me very dead.

All in all I learned something. After Vvardenfell, it's best to go to the first major city of my alliance instead of going where I usually wake up after being dumped in the water somewhere.

What do you mean by that cutscene? Did they add the old cinematic trailer cutscene to play in-game after the worm cultists knock you out? (That would be cool) or did they make a new cutscene? (Which would be even cooler) When I did that quest on the PTS it just skipped from getting knocked out by the cultists to appearing in the cell in coldharbour lol.

I didn't see the old cinematic trailer cutscene before, so I can't say if it's the same or not. They basically club me over the head and then there is a cutscene of a body (I'm assuming it's supposed to be me, or the victim right before me) being hauled to Mannimarco. It seems to be a first person view of Mannimarco sacrificing me and then I come to in the Wailing Prison with my weapons and armor still equipped and all the stuff still in my inventory.

I had never seen that cutscene before tonight and it seemed cinematic in nature, but not to the extent the Morrowind trailer was when they first announced it. It was still good quality though...in my humble opinion.

Interesting....I'm glad they added that. If that's all it showed then it sounds like it's a portion of the old cinematic trailer. Here's a link to the full version of it (it's a couple minutes long I think, can't check right now)

Yup... the shots have bee reprocessed, but this is what you see. First you get conked on the head as baddies swarm up from behind you... next you're being led by the chain down the stairs and into that brief scene.

It's a BIG improvement to the whole Coldharbor experience.

Yes, you see part of that after they conk you on the head. They don't show the whole thing, but they do show Mannimarco and his really big dagger! I agree with @ProfesseurFreder in that it is an improvement to just waking up there with no clue how you got there. What you DON'T see is The Prophet from the beginning and the parade of Daedra at the end.

While the Wailing Prison isn't so much of a tutorial now the way it used to be, the quest and the cutscene help the whole "how and why did I die" part of it all make a little more sense.

Personally I wish they had done things a bit differently... never done the new tutorial like this in the first place, but kepot the "sould shriven in coldharbour" as the tutorial, let new characters go the usualy way, and then get them to the morrowind questline as vestige... (which would make any respawns during that "in-character" thanks to vestige status) and then added the new one as an Morrowind tutoriel that happens to -everyone- taking the boat to vvardenfell...
    Oh, well.
Guess that ship too sailed and sunk a long time ago...

Why would they ever take that cinematic out? I've been playing this game since beta and I totally don't remember that cinema. Wow, that totally gives the story so much more depth. They should totally put that cinema back in, or maybe I accidentally skipped it all this time?

I honestly don't like that the new tutorial takes place before Wailing Prison. Without that there is no explanation for how we can respawn(without the vestige story we would just die normaly), or why we members of one particular alliance. (Also some quests would not be possible if you have a soul, at least not according to the lore of ESO)

However I do like that they readded the sacrifice cutscene.

So for my Warden I decided to explain WP as a flashback of some sort. (so according to her backstory she got a letter asking her to get to Morrowind after she had awoken after escaping Coldharbour, that is why she was on the ship to Morrowind).

(I am not much of a roleplayer but I like to give my characters a backstory)
