Level 50 question

I had not leveled a character in a long time until this past week and was really confused by what I saw at level 50. When I reached 50 I lost 3-4K mag, 3K+ health and 1.5k stam. Is this normal? If so what is the justification for this?

    Level scaling ...
You go from "I'm a god!" when you start the game to "Please don't kill me!" when you hit CP160.

By then, you should have learned how to play your class and found/crafted some decent gear to make up for your loss in stats.

All characters are basically scaled to level 50 based on a curve, you actually have way more stats than what you actually would get at level 50. Once you hit level 50 all the scaling goes away and relies purely on your base stats, gear, and champion point investments, if applicable.

Not sure on the actual loss amounts, but lower levels are buffed, and as you increase levels the buffs get lower.

The game has never had the scaling right, lower level players have always received an overly generous boost when playing higher level content, even in group finder dungeons before One Tamriel. Now that we are open world, you are always scaled until you hit level 50, which never used to be the case.

Now you have to start looking at your gear, enchantments, potions and food.

Technically they should be scaled to CP160 but there is also a bonus.

I've done it now a bunch of times now - but, still challenging to transition from level 49 to level 50...everything feels different all of a sudden, partly because you lose combat scaling, partly because the gear you're in is suddenly useless...

you may need to re-spec your attributes, skills and champion points...

good news is you get to put on some nice sets...

Yep. My health dropped to about 19k (with food) after I ticked over to 50 on my latest toon. I need some new gear.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I did not account for the scaling. Good thing I had the CP and sets to compensate for the change.

This is indeed a completely stupid system. Level scaling should close a gap, not make you better than ppl with higher level.

But this is ZOS, they moved their focus to cash shops, more bugs and bad design. -- Althoug this is a bit unfair: The art team does a great job and I actually like the warden effects.

    Normal.

Welcome to ESO: the only game you get weaker as you play - resource wise and CP wise. Stupid diminishing returns...
Difficulty scaling is desperately needed. 9 years. 6 paid expansions. 25 DLCs. 41 game changing updates including A Realm Reborn-tier overhaul of the game including a permanent CP160 gear cap and ridiculous power creep thereafter. I'm sick and tired of hearing about Cadwell Silver&Gold as a "you think you do but you don't"-tier deflection to any criticism regarding the lack of overland difficulty in the game.

Only if you don't spend those CP's and keep wearing that white gear you picked up in Coldharbour.
