What does Warden excel in? What does it do best?

With an upcoming release of a new class, I have decided to certainly try it out

I have previously played Magicka Sorcerer and Stamina Templar. I mainly play alone

I have been looking for something new and was thinking to make a stamDK tank, but with the release of a new class I will 100% try Warden

My only concern is - What playstyle should I play?
Given that you cannot change your race, I am trying to decide what my play style would be, so to know what race should I pick accordingly

I haven't played the PTS so my knowledge of the class is limited

I'd really like to hear different opinions on what the class does the best: (My focus lies within PVP)
can you make a good tank or a heal out of warden? does it have enough burst for PVP?
Is it better to go with Stamina or Magicka?

My question goes out to those who have experienced the class or have any relevant knowledge about it's capabilities

Thanks

Hard to say so far. They dont seem to excell at damage output but im still working on skill lines. Hands down the best class if someone wanted to make a stam healer ;) (which I plan on messing with for the lols)

some cool and fun skills, but DPS although not bad isn't great and Magicka Templar is the better healer by far, so now looking at a viable tank build that can also support dps and heals - looks like this might be the way to go :)

Also can't see Wardens being competitive in PVP at all - has anyone had any success with this ?

They have great AOE and they get 2 good AOE abilities very early: Scorch and Impaling Shards. Packs of mobs are no sweat even from level 4. I solo public dungeons very easily with both my magicka and stamina Warden including soloing the group challenge boss in them. Same with dolmens, if you actually find one without grinders, that is.

They have a good group heal whether magicka or stamina so they can spot heal when needed in groups. Same with group protection buffs.

They have 3 very different and interesting ultimates and 2 of them (the bear's ultimate attack and the heal) are very cheap and together with their extra ultimate regen passives this allows you to use them very frequently. It almost makes them part of your regular rotation with short cooldowns. The Ice one costs more but it's a great tanky AOE around you that also mitigates 30% damage for everyone near you.

If you don't do trials and are not obsessed with max DPS, It's a fun class.

If you do trials you'll probably spend half your time whining about Sorcs here in the forums and trying to get them nerfed.

Oh, and for what it's worth, my magicka warden is Altmer and my stamina one is a Redguard... that works for me.

It doesn't excel really at anything.

It has good heals but Templar is still better
It's arguably on par with DK for Tanking but is somewhat......trickier(?) I guess to pull off as reliably.
DPS is bad and it should feel bad.

All jokes aside from my previous post, the magicka side of things is strong in healing, not quite as good as Templar but still imo very good. They are very good at tanking and have brilliant self heals, the healing ultimate you can have up almost always so that's nice.

In PvE dps it is ok but far from a top spec magsorc.

PvP dps you Can get phenomenal burst as a stamina class. If you get your stamina morph of scorch up, get a cliff racer in just before you heavy attack into a crit rush you can hit very good rates of dps, if they are still alive, zone executioner should finish them off.

Very good pvp healer as they have extremely good mobility and survivability, they can easily buff teammates with the first skill from winters embrace skill line ( I forget what it's called )

Overall I'd say it's a very stable and good class. I rock a stamina wood elf warden and it performs wonderfully in PvP

    I fairly much agree with @Iselin .

I have two Wardens, a Stamina Tank who is a Redguard and a Magica DPS/Off-Healer who is a Dunmer.

It would be interesting to try and make a Stamina Healer but I have a bad feeling they would be fairly limited.

my magwarden can nuke pack mobs, single target boss fights leave alot to be desired.

    the buffs are awesome.

using ice as main damage is meta breaking which is a change of pace. 12-16k attacks with medium weaving ice staff

cliff racer hits hard, but seems delayed and is clunky.

over all its good but not as good as sorc 2 pegs down i would say

same for healing, templar is just better.

Imho permafrost and corrupting pollen are two incredible skills for organized large-scale pvp.
I'm still trying to figure what to build around that.
Heals can be very useful for the group, too.
Shalks are very decent burst and easy to time with proxy.

A lack of gapclosers and heals with large range (the pull is awesome and works in BGs but not at a larger scale), however, are the downsides to those two options.

Going tanky with lots of health/def and the immobilize ice skill scaling off health seems to be another option. I haven't tried that one yet. However, I suspect you simply cannot build neary as tanky as DKs can.

What is there to figure out? Equip Bastion of the Heartland and pair it with durok's bane. All glyphs are tri stat.

all classes can pretty much nuke pack mobs even at end game level, at least all mine can!

The Wardens damage and healing while levelling is very good but levelling is now super easy so you can't really judge it on that.

I changed my PvE Sorcerer to purely PVP spec and levelled another PVE sorcerer to take its place using level 15 gear all the way. Took only 3 days and was still nuking mobs at lv 49 ! o:):)

The Cliff Racer delay makes Crystal Frags look like an instant cast ! looks very pretty tho :)

They excel at doing stuff solo. Been leveling one myself (level 50 now) and anything I encountered I took down with ease, where I struggled on my main NB. Now I'm jumping into more serious dungeons to see if I can keep it up.

Speaking to PvP, stamina warden seems to have some decent delayed ranged burst. The timing on how cliffracers and shalk work are interesting and unique and will allow for some very interesting skill chains.
