Can you walk from one end of Tamreil to the other end? OR How to start Morrowind?

Is it possible to walk from one end of Tamreil to the other end? I started over again about 6 months ago, stopped playing but just restarted again so my Altmer mage is only in Grathwood right now. So can I walk to say the Black Marsh and on my way to Morrowind? If not like I played last time, can I walk as much as possible but still need to take a boat or something to cross certain parts of the game?

I was thinking of just stopping my quests in Grathwood and start walking to Morrowind or the only way to start Morrowind is accepting a quest that will take me there automatically? Just having a tiring week from work and want to relax and thought getting Morrowind for a nostalgia trip would suit me fine just right now. Just wondering how I can accomplish it and not wasting my time trying to walk if I can't.

From Grahtwood to Shadowfen, walking by foot is... mostly impossibly. You'd have to walk across Cyrodil and the physical in game gates to that zone do not allow for access (I've tried :( ), so you'd only be able to get as far as Reaper's March.

That being said there are Carriages in main cities of zones (Or boats if the city has a dock) that will take you to other alliance zones. That could be one way for you to get there. As for Morrowind, if you bought the expansion you should get a letter in your mail inbox, that once you take it out and use it to read from your inventory, it will give you a quest to go and talk to a boatswain who will transport you to Vvardenfell, with a choice of going directly to Vivec city or the small starter village just north of Vivec.

    Happy adventuring! :)

Thank you so much Dragonking. So that is what the letter was. Almost deleted it by accident. Will go read it. :)

Hmmmm no need to walk after a tiring day at work... if you have no friends playing the game then join a guild and use the guild roster to free travel to guild mates wherever they may be ( you don't have to group up with them, just select "travel to player" ) doing that will drop you off at a wayshrine in the region they are in, you could also ask in game chat for a tp to "wherever" you want to go...

footnote: When i returned to playing ESO it was the time of the New Life Festival and i walked/horsed it from Daggerfall to Eastmarch, it was hellish and took for ever (especially with "Unusually long" load screens), then when i arrived in Eastmarch my first quest was in Shadowfens, it was even hellish getting there.. If i had known about tp's or free travel to guild mates then it would have been so less time consuming and easier on my temper..

How'd you walk from daggerfall to eastmarch?

Good chunk of Skyrim isn't in game, it's not a continuous path.

It was almost 6 months ago and things are a little sketchy, i seem to recall it was predominantly horse and two (or maybe 3) boat rides, which were a little frustrating as on occasion i ended up going to some place i had already passed through, i do remember it being late at night when i started my travels thinking it would not take too long and it was 3am when i finally arrived in Eastmarch. Going from the Rift to Eastmarch was a chore in itself and probably took an hour due to unusually long load times both entering the Rift and trying to get into Eastmarch itself..
