Best class to solo / level for a brand new player?

Hi, I watched videos about class/race combos and I understand that aspect. I want to PvP but also would want to be competitive in PvE once I reach end-game. I am a long time WoW player and I made the switch to ESO with Morrowind. Currently I made a Wood Elf NB, stam of course. It's fun but I seem to get owned with mobs and don't do enough damage (I probably just need a new weapon). I'm only level 12 right now.

I really want to play a class that is solid in PvE and PvP. I loved rogues in WoW and I feel like stealth is useful and I really like the skills of the NB, as they seem fun and unique. I was also thinking a magic nightblade instead of stam but not sure what the difference would make really. How are templars? Are they fun or boring? I've heard they are very boring but I've also heard enjoyable...not sure. I was also thinking a Magic DK as a Dark Elf...because if I do PvE I want to be useful and wanted, so I'm torn between a tank or healer if I go down the templar or DK route. I know any class can tank but I hear Templars and DK's are the primary wanted ones in end-game content.

I guess my main question is what is probably the easiest class to gear, level and enjoy while playing primary solo for questing/killing/leveling - but can be good in PvE and PvP come end-game? Should I go stam or magic? I'm almost tempted to go Magic Sorc because I hear they're the best in both PvE and PvP but I really like the looks of the other classes gear more.

Thanks for any help.

As far as fun goes, Wardens are the most fun class to play. ZOS really made it quite well.

    About Stamblade:

They are pretty strong, I would advise you to level with a dual wield, 2h and bow. Also, look for "Dubious Camoran Throne" drink on the vendors, it's not expensive and scales with your leveling. Good food buff can make the game much more enjoyable!

Warden could well be my new main, but any class is good. Sorc, warden and temp are easiest to level probably.

ZOS official design stance is "sorc or gtfo".

Magic sorcerer is easiest, by far, for pretty much any content.

You could go with Nightblade and hope that things change for the better. In the last ESO Live (which are basically short video episodes where the developers talk about the game) there was a brief mention about a positive change for stealth in PVE, but it was suggested that it was not ready to be implemented and was still in the works. I'd be careful about assuming that will be the case though, only because in the past the devs have said they were working on things that have since been shelved.

If you pick a class like Magicka DK, then you'll be fine while leveling and could always switch to a tank build for end-game content. If you're a tank, you'll almost instantly find groups for dungeons.

For your first character, though, I highly suggest picking whichever one you think you will have the most fun with. The easiest way to dislike this game (while getting experience with it) is to feel like you have to play a certain way or make a certain build - saps all the fun out of the game.

Mag sorcerer without questions. Best aoe damage, resources, build, fun and xp gain (due to power aoe).
But still it's best to create 8 characters in all classes and check as many builds as possible, for ultimate fun :).

Thanks for the replies. I ended up making a High Elf Templar and leveled him to 10 tonight. He's fun but it's not what I expect...I guess what I thought it would be is a Paladin like in WoW. I don't like the idea of using a staff.

Are most magicka builds built around using staffs? I want to use a fat 2h on this templar and do damage but it looks like all the damage comes from the destruction staff tree...if thats the case I should have made a Sorc...Reroll tomorrow? lol

Pretty much. Staffs are the only weapon that does magic damage, and since everything for a caster scales from magic, it's what you use.

That being said, you can play them Paladin Like with One Hand and Shield, as using that on my Magic DK does not seem to affect the DPS all that much. So, use the Staff on one skill bar, and then One Hand and Shield on the other. Since it adds another set piece to a set using the shield, you can even pick a set to add something to the One Hand Shield fight, like say using 5 PIece Julianos and 3 Piece Torugs with the stick or 4 piece Torugs with the Sword and Board.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

    1) Easiest for all contentand very very strong : duelling, pvp, pve, solo => MagSorc

    2) Then for all content too and very strong too => MagPlar (especially for grouplay) and StamSorc (especially for soloplay)

Easy clear content : MagBlade, but hard to master.

    The rest is pretty similar.

" Hardest " class : StamPlar (hard to sustain) and StamBlade (hard to master)
