Returning Nightblade

Hey I'm thinking about returning to the game and focusing on my level 50 Dark elf Nightblade. Only 45 Champ points. It's been so long since I've played I'm a bit overwhelmed on what build I should start with to re-familiarize myself with the class and game. I don't want to drop all my points experimenting and end up having to spend tons of money on constant respec. Any builds, links to videos of basic nightmare pve gameplay and other advice of where to start? Preferably magic nightblade destro staff. Thanks!

Welcome back (maybe). Lol. It's a good time...the game is about to get crammed with new players. I'm not sure where you left off. Based on having champion points, I'm going to guess sometime after Wrothgar. Regardless, some tips based on your questions

Builds: alcasthq.com and sypherpk maintain respectable build guides. Their magblade guides will be good starting points.

Skill point respecs: huzzah, the days of respec are over! Ok, not really... but with One Tam you can go anywhere, so every sky shard and quest skill point is pretty much immediately available to you. There are so many points in the game you don't really ever need to respec...just go get more points.

If you want to respec anyway just to start fresh, wait for Morrowind. You'll get a free mandatory CP respec, and then skill point respecs will have a limited time reduced cost. Last time the cost was like 300 gold for toons it's normally 12,000 on, and it lasted about two months until they ended it in a patch.

    To do first

You'll want to work to CP160, at which point you can wear max level gear. At this point you can start collecting/building a permanent gear set to use. Based on the enlightenment system and so forth, if you play an hour or so a day you'll get to 160 in a couple of weeks...it'll be pretty fast.

If you have access, Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood are natural quest lines for a magblade, and they're pretty fun. This'd be a good way to re-learn your character, and each main quest offers a skill points so these quest lines are some of the richest skill point lines in the game.

Once at cp160, you might want to work toward a monster helm set. For a magblade, grothdarr is lethal. I don't love running the vet dungeons much, so I watch the weekend Cyrodiil vendor, who always carries two undaunted monster helm items. She can be the best place to get s helm...they're spendy, but not terrible.

If you feel you want to grind xp for champion points or leveling skills (it's boring, but I'll offer the tip, anyway) there's a Zerg that runs the Alikr dolmens pretty much 24/7. It's insane. If you want to burn through enlightenment or push the cp gain faster, that's a good place.

Hopefully this gets you started. Any other specific questions, these forums are the place.

    Quick advice:

Until the next incremental patch, you can reset your skillpoints at 1 gold per invested skillpoint, instead the regular 50 gold. So if you want to try out builds and skills and make sure you've invested them to your liking, now's the time, to do so.
