No way to free the slaves? (WARNING, SPOILERS)

As someone who's played an Argonian in Morrrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, and now ESO, it's obvious that they're my favorite race. And it really makes me uncomfortable knowing that the Telvanni still keep them as slaves due to them not joining the Ebonheart Pact. I think the part that upsets me is going to Sadrith Mora and seeing them in cages with absolutely no way of helping them.

I just wish there was some sort of quest or something that frees them. Cause now that I've finished Sun-In-Shadow's questline, I have no desire to have anything to do with Sadrith Mora ever again because of that (same can be said for Tel Aruhn and Vos, actually). I was actually hoping that helping Sun-In-Shadow would and up freeing all of the slaves in Sadrith Mora, at the very least. But sadly, that did not happen. It just makes me too angry seeing Argonians in cages with no way to help them. >.<

I know not everyone feels that strongly. I just hope I'm not the only one that does. And I know it's a longshot, but I'm hoping that a quest gets made or something where the slaves eventually get to go free. Even if it's just the Argonians that go free. :(

At first glance I thought this title said "No way to punish the slaves??".

I... I think I need to go to bed.

You can't free someone else's slaves. What's wrong with you.

Buy them first. I hear Argonians are cheap.

That's how it goes. You may on occasion be able to help your argonian brethren in small ways... (there is also a certain orc by a certain dwelve where you can strike a blow against slavery) but freeing them all, that's not gonna happen. Especially not with the Telvanni... they might be a "meritocracy", but they are also all a bunch of scheming spellwringers who just love lording over others, especially slaves, to make them feel all high and mighty... well, and have someone to do the scutwork anyhow.

Although I really think it would have been interesting to have some repeatable "free a slave" quests, for those argonain characters who might feel like you do... perhaps even done in a DLC with two guilds, a "abolitionist guild" that gives you "free slaves" missions, and an slavers guild that gives you "capture innocent argonians and other NPCs tp enslave" missions, with PvP-enabled should members of the two meet (Don't want PvP? Don't join either!)

They're just Argonians and deserve to be enslaved.

What I find annoying as heck is that you can't play a character that supports slavery. Political correctness is very prominent in ESO, alas.

      I'm not saying I'm trying to abolish slavery two eras before it actually happens. I just want to be able to visit Sadrith Mora without seeing my people in cages or chains. Because I do love the look of the mushroom towers and whatnot. But the negativity that is caged and enslaved Argonians outweighs any positives for me. >.<;

Also, lore-wise, the Telvanni also have Port Telvannis, which I highly doubt we'll be visiting anytime soon if at all. I know there's gotta be who knows how many Argonian slaves there, but I don't have to see them in-game. That's the difference for me. Freeing all of House Telvanni's Argonian slaves in the second era? That's one thing. Freeing the ones on Vvardenfell? That's a different story in my opinion.

PS: Thank you at least for the tip on the delve! Now I have some searching to do!

I erect the spine of disagreement. We most certainly do NOT! >:(

Although I do think it would be more fair if you got to choose one side or the other, I suppose. Since they did have a moral choice like this in Morrowind with Reeh-Jah (who I of course helped, but I do reluctantly admit there are Dark Elves with Dark Hearts who prefer the other direction).

This one is more concerned about the Khajiit.
Freeing slaves is an decent idea but it would not have any serious in game impact
Grinding just make you go in circles.

Freeing the khajiit and argonians and killing their owner was one of the things I was looking forwrd too the most.

Don't look away! It will make fighting some Camonna Tong slavers all the sweeter! ;)

But the visuals match the lore - if you go to telvanni or dres lands, you have to expect seeing slaves. Be grateful they at least kept back most of the other really bad things that come with slavery...

Maybe so, though at the very least the Dres freed their Argonian slaves upon joining the pact. I do feel bad for the Khajiit slaves as well, but not as much after seeing the actions of the Renrijra pirates in Deshaan and Shadowfen...

It also brings me solace to know that we've gotten the last laugh as of the fourth era!

There's too much freeing of slaves, actually. There's nothing to do in Sardith Mora for a character who respects Telvanni traditions.

But you can not just murder someone for having slaves. That would be immoral. Who would then feed the slaves?

It's a fantasy game with fantasy cultures, there's nothing wrong with wanting to explore the darker side of these cultures. After all, we're allowed to slaughter innocent civilians and take their belongings. The desire to play a pro-slavery character isn't so different and in case of Dunmer, slavery is an important aspect of their culture and traditions.

This has nothing to do with real world slavery, which still exists and of course is despicable.

Indeed! What goes around, comes around, and in the fourth era the descendents of my haughty slaveholding dunmer fire mage alt may well be working as servants to some argonian to earn their keep!
(...great... Now I have a mental image of a redhaired dunmer in a lusty maid costume polishing an argonians spear... :p )
Anyways... my other two dunmer are not into slaveholding... my librarian would consider it distasteful, and much rather talk with argonoans about all kinds of things; while my bounty huntress does not take slave recovery contracts - though she would take contracts on slavers at half price... ;)

Yeah the telvanni are pretty nasty pieces of work, all together. Not that many others are better, after all, many of the dunmer only agreed to "no slavery" out of political reasons, and we know from the lore the dunmer lands will in time revert to their old ways... until the tribunal falls, and with it the dunmer nation, more or less, to be mostly conquered by their former slaves in the fourth era.

As for real world slavery... its an abomination, and I wished the game would be less tame in showing just why. But I doubt that would ever happen, the game designers are a bit too reluctant to show "offensive" things like that...

I really wanted to kill that quest NPC that had the nerve to call Slurg a "tail arsed swit". I'm the hero of Tamriel, what has that NPC done lately other than lick the boots of some slavers?

But I had to settle for turning off the prevent killing innocents option and taking out some Telvanni mages instead.

Agree that more slave freeing quests would be appreciated.
