I can understand that, but to make a whole context in relation to 30 days of actual gameplay.....a forum post would not have enough room. It would have been a wall of text that noone would want to read. So the next best thing is a video speaking on my experiences in detail that can be skipped if someone does choose to. Lastly, I am not a Adsense member.....there are no ads on this video and I make no money from it.....

1. Can't delete characters several times a day because ZoS is a money pit.

2. Can't create a Nightblade Orc that carries an ax and is all magicka that can compete with a high elf magicka sorc running duel destruction staffs because ZoS is a money pit. Side bar if you change your mind early on and want to use a different skill line you have to respec because ZoS is a money pit.

3. Crafting bags for ESO+ only is a travesty and in place because ZoS is a money pit.

and a bunch of stuff about how all the other MMOs out there got it right.

I'd rather read on this site than watch an ad followed by a production intro followed by a lot of talk I can't skim. So you lost someone that was interested enough to click on your post but not enough to take the bait. Even if you don't have ads...still not interested cause I fell for your ad here...

Eh, don't see how this is any different than other MMOs - you can make a whacked-out sub-optimal build in any game, and it won't be able to compete with a theorycrafted character build. Nothing new there.

And respecs? Again, that's normal for the other MMOs I've played - they don't just let you toss everything around on a whim, you either re-roll or pay (either in-game or cash-shop) to respec. And I suppose this new player isn't aware that there's in-game respec shrines that'll let you do it for gold.

I don't remember exactly, but aren't the restrictions on deleting characters meant to stave off some sort of abuse? /shrug

1. It's to prevent bots!!
2. You can do it but you'll suck, that's, well, every mmo when you go against class design.
3. Support the game, pay a little, I love that ESO+ provides the craft bag. I do think it would be nice to be a single separate purchase but understand than like 75% would unsubscribe.

Lastly, it's not greed. Tech companies don't make a ton of cash. Also, they're a business that has to earn profit for investors or guess what...whoosh.

Yeah but ZoS says play how you want and for me Orc demi god smiting foes with lightning shooting out my eyes is it (I hope the humor in this is obvious but just in case...).
To be fair the video did mention the respec in game. I was jumping around though so not sure exactly why that is a problem. I think it was because if you take points away from a skill line then all the time you spent leveling it is wasted?

And yeah the first several minutes are about how ZoS is using gold farmers as an excuse to charge for character slots and other MMOs can deal with gold farmers without being so restrictive. I've been playing since beta and have only deleted two characters. One because once I got out in the sunlight I didn't like the way he looked. So for me this is right near the top of the list for non-issues.

To the OP stick with the game for a while, it is worth it. My first character was/is a disaster. I created a stam based healing DK and leveled him all the way out. He is my master crafter now. He also has the master fisherman achievement, turns out all that takes is time. Other characters I have are much better and some only slightly better. I find something fun to do on all of them though.

I watched it all. I understand where he's coming from but don't agree (although only reason I sub is for craft bag)

I was expecting game play reasons as to why he no longer wants to play, but two of his three reasons are only relevant really for a new player.

Reason 1: He can only delete one character every 24hrs, and feels that while part of the reason might be to combat gold farmers, the real reason is to try and force players to spend $15 on another character slot. And the most expensive he's seen character slots elsewhere is $6.

As far as I'm aware, you can delete up to three characters, and then you must wait 24hrs to delete the next one, but don't delete any for 3 days, and again you can delete three at once. This was in place way before the crown store existed and it did really help in stopping most of the in game gold spammer messages.

Reason 2, if he's at say level 25 and respects, his new skill lines start at level 1

Yes that's true but once you realise how it works, it takes very little time to get them all leveled. Any skill on your active bar levels whether you use it or not, when I start a new character, I level all the skills as I go

Reason 2.5, he feels the store selling vamp and werewolf bytes for $15 is deliberately done to catch new players out, players who don't realise it can be got in game for free.

He's probably right on that one, personally I wish the store didn't exist and the game was sub only. That said, its an mmo and asking about vamp etc in zone chat will easily get people offering a bite for free or a bit of gold, I've yet to meet anyone who got it from the store.

Reason 2.75, it's not really Elder Scrolls, he can't do what he could in Skyrim, they should instead have called it Tamriel online instead.

Disagree. They never said it was going to be like Skyrim, they've even just added Morrowind and I too have played Elder Scrolls since the original Morrowind, and I'm more than happy for it to have the Elder Scrolls name.

Reason 3: Not having a craft bag makes crafting near impossible, and the only reason he has to sub is to get access to it.

Before the craft bag existed, we all managed fine. Yes it was a pain, having mule characters to store our mats on etc, but we all did it and managed fine.

Then we had a choice on whether we subbed or not and a lot of people decided it wasn't worth it.

Then they introduced the craft bag and word got around. I tried it for a month and now won't play without it.

Ask 100 people why they sub, I suspect the main reason for 90% is the craft bag. If they made it available for free or a one off purchase, their sub's would plummet overnight.

So, it would be financial suicide for it not to be part of the sub.

But I don't understand why any of that would want to make him leave. I was expecting complaints about the story, quests, combat etc.

You should give it more than 30 days; you can find way more things to dislike.

I been playing this game since closed betas of 2013, and have a love/hate relationship with the game, you will find more to dislike OP, but you will also find stuff you like too.

30 days is nothing to years of play..

Keep at it if you wish.

I've only ever deleted characters because of mistakes I've overlooked when making them (i.e. the voice) but if you can't get it right after 3 tries, then all bets are off.
