Currently the eso plus membership functions as a whole package and there maybe services in that package that some players do not want while other services they do want. The membership services could be paid for individually. Alongside a new service that lowers acquisition times for desired items for end game equipment.
So for example a player could select and pay for these services individually on the membership webpages:
-Access to dlc packs (with a sub selector for which ones)
-1500 Crowns per 30 day membership
-Upgrade to character progression experience
-Access to increased bank space
-Access to crafting bag
-Access to token based end game itemization (detailed below)
So for the token based itemization option this service would be purchased in 6 and 12 month intervals. This would allow zos to secure revenue despite the players gaining desired items then their play time decreasing. At the same time the service allows players to obtain items quicker.
By making the items bind on pickup would limit fluctuations to the in-game economy due to introduction of the system. Also, a requirement that players must have complete goals in the play fields insures that they actually play game content and learn the game mechanics. Which removes the “pay to win” factor.
How this could work in game would be creating a token for each pve and pvp play field. The number of tokens required to purchase item sets would still be controlled and a maximum allowance for stored tokens set. This allows for control of acquisition times within the system and prevents situation where players have large amounts of tokens stored. Which could allow them to quickly obtain newly released items faster than intended.
End game items would still be obtained through their current means and the current payout rates would not be changed. It’s important for people who do not want the service to still be able to acquire items within the currently set time frames. Increasing these times could detract players from the game because they would feel they are forced to pay into the service in order to progress; on top of paying for the base game.
In PVE: A vendor who sells containers for each monster set and trial set is created. To purchase the set a player has to have completed the corresponding trial or monster dungeon at least once. Each boss defeat automatically awards a token. Items purchased via this method are bind on pick up.
In PVP: A vendor who sells containers for each pvp set is created. To purchase the sets a player has to have participated in that corresponding pvp play field by completion of specific pvp quests. Completing quests automatically awards tokens. Items purchased via this method are bind on pick up.
The vendor containers would list items in this format:
[Set Name] [Armor/Weapon/Accessory] [Tait] [Token price]
Note: Numbers and traits list are only used to illustrate concept.
So for example the PVE container list would look like:
Berserking Warrior Armor Sturdy 6 PVE Tokens (contains the full 7 piece armor set)
Berserking Warrior Armor Reinforced 6 PVE Tokens (contains the full 7 piece armor set)
Berserking Warrior Accessories Healthy 3 PVE Tokens (contains the full 3 piece accessory set)
