Lawful Good on Morrowind

I've been really disappointed with the DLC options for a lawful-good character. Assassins, thieves, and generally doing mercenary/privateer work. Does Morrowind have an main quest lines that would provide any meaningful play for this type of character, or would they all be side quests? All I've heard so far is that you can work for an evolved form of a Daedric prince or choose to participate in political skulduggery. Please disabuse me of the disappointment I'm imagining!

Alignment is in D&D not ESO . They don't really think along those lines when writing quests . It's either good , bad or In between .

That would be the main storyline. Assemble the council of 5 and defeat Molag Bal. Doesn't get any more "Lawful Good" than that.

You may be confusing what I mean- my character fits into that niche. There are plenty of 'hero' role quests in the main story. That's what I'm interested in for the character.

I mean that's cool- but I was just hoping there would be DLC or an expansion that would fit with that as well. So Morrowind isn't really worth it for that RP objective?

Would probably be side quests then. While exploring, you come across a town that's been invaded. Help the residents drive out the invaders...Continue on your travels. If you don't like a quest, you can always click the "Goodbye" option. There are also quests that offer a choice in actions. (highlighted in red) when you're going through the quest dialog.

There is absolutely no way I would ever play any ES game as lawful good. For one thing there are just too many containers that need me to loot them :)

But yes, you're very much a good character in the vast majority of quests and there are many that give you a choice. But it's pretty tough to avoid trespassing since there are a ton of quests where you're otherwise playing a good role that require it.

I always play all RPGs as true neutral or neutral good. I find lawful just too boring in them.

Even the most "good" character has the choose to lesser of evils in this series sometimes. We're talking a word where the head of the pantheon took revenge on one of his fellows by murdering him and shooting his heart across the land. TES has always dealt in shades of grey and in moral compromise. Being pure and good is sometimes very difficult in this world--much like our own.

You start almost every TES game as a prisoner or in exile, presumably for heinous crimes. Who are we to fight destiny?

I see some people pointing out that TES is all about moral ambiguity, except, that isn't true. The spectrum is very often in the center, yes, but the 'evil' end very much exists, yet, the 'good' end of the spectrum pretty much does not exist. I think what the OP is asking for is something akin to the Stendarr or Meridia stuff, which all we have is the main quest, which is tainted by having to murder one of your companions? Yet, even the semi-good Thieves' Guild is all against the law, DB is all evil, etc etc. Seems everything that gets released is either shady at best, or downright evil. Where is the 'Paladin' 'Knight in Shining Armor' stuff? Well, it does exist, just that ZOS really has not delved into it ...

I guess I fall into the 'Lawful good' category. I cannot bring myself to do the TG or DB quest lines because I am not into outright murder and thievery. I did not buy the DLC's, I have ESO+ so have access to them, I just have a part of me that tells me it is wrong.

I even argue with a friend when playing because I justify stealing from a thieves trove as 'taking stolen items from a thief is not really theft because the goods aren't rightfully theirs', whereas he says it is still theft ...... so maybe I'm just a hypocrite.

Sounds like I might have a problem with Morrowind then.......sigh :/

I think you are assuming facts that are not present. I always thought that you were a prisoner because you were shanghaied. At least that is how I envisioned it.

Vivic isn't an evolved daedric prince, he's a jerk who killed his best friend to steal a few dwemer artifacts used to tune the heart of lorkan and give him and his 2 pals "divinity". Him and his pals just took over the roles of the daedra in the chimer culture for a smooth transition to their living god status. I like to think of him more like Donald Trump.

I have to agree that I wish there were more "good guy" type things. We have dark brotherhood, and TG, and I'd like to get some achievement for giving gold to the poor, or maybe a faction like Knights of the Nine from Oblivion (in this era Eight) where you are a good holy knight (not those Akatosh jerks from DB).

Lawful good is pretty tricky in a game as it is really limiting if RPd correctly.

Chaotic Good is probably where most "do-gooders" actually fall. neutral good at BEST. Just too many things that are questionable in nature.

A lot of quests involve killing bad guys with no attempt to, for example, give them a chance to surrender first. If THAT bothers you, MMOs aren't for you. So I'll assume you're more flexible, and the fact that they attack you on sight makes you comfortable with killing them, and thus that you're OK with the typical side quests in the game.

In that case, Wrothgar/Orsinium should work just as well for you as the alliance zones. What's more, it's one of the best zones for quests and so on in the game, perhaps behind only Rivenspire.

Even when you have the option to do right (MG final quest) the game punishes you for it. It's a little weird, the underlying current of approval for characters with morality of zero.

They're a bit limited by the traditions of the series, though. FG is probably the closest thing to a "good" guild, and they're just mercs. MG does ok with staying neutral, which is at least something.

Most of the major faction questlines give us a chance to right things, maybe that's the balance.

Can you not make up your own quests with others to suit your chosen alignment when main quests are not suitable?

    Examples:
    • Rid the land of the feral beasts plaguing it!
    • Collecting necessary ingredients to cure the malady affecting the *local people (*fellow RP'ers)
    • Chasing down *crooks/criminals/enemies of the land (*fellow RP'ers)
    etc. etc.
