Disconnecting or crashing from BGs giving you a leavers penalty.

Why is this a thing? In all modern arena type games, players are always given a window of reconnecting to their match. Given how buggy BGs are at the moment and with only 2 weeks left till launch, I can't see how a competitive PvP scene can form when you're constantly getting locked out without a chance of reconnecting to the match.

But still the point stands. How are battlegrounds supposed to work when people get randomly locked out due to game crashes/bugs.
Ofc when they´re no success there won´t be an incentive to add ratings.

Oh yeah of course there shouldn't be a 15 min cooldown but from my gutfeeling I doubt they will bring ratings either way. If you design BGs the question if you want to have ranked mode or not is probably one of the things you discuss first. It isn't really anything too hard to implement, so the fact there is no rating means to me ZOS decided against it.

The weird thing is that even casuals should benefit from a ranked mode as they will get matched with equally strong opponents. Can't really imagine it being fun for a casual 4 man to get matched against a 4man KiteSquad group.

Anyways - as soon as grp queues become available we will set out to prove the point of: "Not implenenting a rating was pretty darn stupid."

Looking back on my post, competitive was the wrong term to use, a healthy pvp scene would have been a better description. The focus of my post was to point out for anyone who hasn't tried BGs due to lack of time or early access that the release of battlegrounds feels rushed and poorly implemented.

Core design mechanics (not sure if this is the right term) that are present in other healthy pvp games such as seperate solo/team queues and the ability to reconnect after a DC/crash are missing and will drive both casual and serious pvpers away from the game mode after the initial hype dies down. To me it feels like BGs were just pushed out as a side product of the Morrowind expansion to keep the pvpers happy and playing until the next big pvp update comes.

Tried BGs twice.. got kicked out to character select screen twice. BGs is broken at launch.

I got booted out of battleground halfway through for no reason and get a 20mins deserter penalty. GG

Even better, some times you get the deserter debuff just for finishing the game and hitting the leave battleground button at the end of the match.
