Should telvanni towers ugly fleshy textures be recolored?

Telvanni mushroom tower textures should be changed so that they do not look nasty to look at. In comparison to the original they look like flesh towers and i will avoid spending crowns on the telvanni house if it is crown exclusive. Much critism was given on it in the beta and it still looks unmajestic and many people on the forums and zone chat have voiced their concerns on sandrith mora being ugly as heck to look at. The worm cult has infiltrated house telvanni it seems.

Pictures with comparisons to the original, skyrims, the esos towers, and a corpus enemy would be appreciated

They should rework them entirely so they look more like mushroom towers and less like brick outhouses with a fungal infection :(

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought those towers looked incredibly disgusting, was worried I'd *** off the players going off on their Nostalgia trips, (no offence). I know they're supposed to be gigantic Mushrooms, but it honestly looks like the Flood had infected the island and we need to call the Master Chief ASAP.

They should start pulsating and wave tentacles around. Snatch a guard or other NPC every ten minutes and eats them.

    Magic comes at a price!

Edit: So that was supposed to say I'm not thrilled per se at the colour scheme - by the same token it adds to the living part, and while a tad repulsive I do think it's effective.

I would have thought people who are looking for the nostalgia would be high on the list of people who don't like the current design. As you say, they're supposed to be gigantic mushrooms, not stone towers with a fungal infection.

Absolutely. My wife and I refuse to buy the house because of the disgusting mushrooms around it. Should have been orange or brownish greenish or something, not something that looks like sheep intestines.Utterly disgusting

The interior of the player house is amazing though, except the mushrooms

I was wondering why I kept thinking "flesh" instead of "fungus." It's totally the color, yeah.

Yep. I was one of those who, during the first few previews, was disappointed that they're built around a stone structure at all. I still think it makes them look blocky instead of the elegant, interesting towers we saw in TES III.

    Living vicariously through my characters.

    My Girls:
"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

Oh yes. I'm very sure that ZoS will change the textures of the towers just because you are oversensitive and probably with intolerance to anything gritty or even remotely gory, so that you can return to being in your safe zone.

The mushrooms are natural flora for Morrowind and especially Vvardenfell, there's nothing even remotely wrong with them growing the towers. It actually provides a nice and gritty, eerie effect. After all, the Telvanni mages are more often than not fairly greedy, evil and even deal with Daedra for immortality as you'll see in this xpac.

This is a mature game, please go elsewhere if such things "disgust" or frighten you. Ta.

You say that as if I am unfamiliar with telvanni and their fungus you blasphemous fetcherous outlandish swit of a n'wah. In previous games the telvanni lived in majestic mushroom towers and didn't make towers that look like they were made out of the flesh of their argonian slaves.

I like them, they arouse me somehow...

The only part that bothers me is the interiors are all old chimer towers. It's not like they grew the shrooms on the ruins, they are just covering a perfectly good tower with some kind of mold. I wish they were more organic and less stone.

Except the fact that they're the wrong colour and are growing out of a stone foundation instead of out of the ground.

You completely missed the point... the towers looked *nothing* like this in TES: III, and these ones in eso are just butt ugly regardless of historical consistancy. I don't know if you're a troll or if you just only read the thread title before posting.

You know how your corporate-produced orange juice is depleted of oxygen in storage and then it has to have flavor packets added to it to even taste anything like orange before hitting the shelf?

Same principle. Mass produced mycotic chitin isn't going to look pretty. At this point, it's more about keeping up with building material demand than about the cosmetics of individual towers. So it should look ugly.

I don't mind that, really... after all, the mushroom towers we know from TES:Morrowind are what, eight centuries -after- ESO:Morrowind?
Things change in such times, you know?
This would be like complaining that a game set in 13th century north america has no skyscrapers on the isle of manhatten, or a game set in ancient rome has no saint peter's basilica, or a game set during the reign of charlemange no eiffel tower in paris...

However, I would have preferred the tower mushrooms to look less fleshly myself. I mean, I had FallOut (the original one) flashbacks there, and kept glancing around for centaurs and wondering what the master was up to now... ;)

They're the exact same towers though. Take Tel Mora, for example. It's clear that this has grown upwards, from the ground, not outwards from some long-decayed foundation.

It's horrifying. Just... just disgusting. Which is a shame because if it wasn't so friggin nauseating I'd buy it in a heartbeat (though I agree with those saying that it should be an actual mushroom tower instead of a building with a fungal infection).

Oh? So, tell me... what evidence do you have that those are the -same- towers, and not towers that were rebuilt in the exact same location some centuries later when the original ones had fallen into ruin? Because as I keep saying... it is close to eight centuries between ESO:Morrowind and TES:Morrowind... now there are buildings that last such times, and wizard towers might be among them... but they just as well might not. Its entirely plausible that at some point telvanni mages perfected the mushroom tower thing, and tore down their old stone-but mushroom covered towers to grow pure mushroom-towers in their place, yes? ;)

I don't really mind the color too much. What I do mind is the washed out pixelated textures. They almost look just as badly detailed as in the original Morrowind.

But even if zos goes that route, why? why the need to make them look unpleasing? Telvanni towers was one of the things many people were waiting for for a home but many people will not buy the tower home because of how horrid it looks

It's not only the colour, but the whole exterior texture which would have to become reworked. The inside looks more detailed/structured than the outside and the textures of the exterior walls and the mushroom trunks/heads popping out don't blend in, they seem just pasted.

They did a great job with Vivec and Hlaalu/Redoran houses, but they completely messed up the Telvanni part. Seems as if there wasn't enough time left...

Post scriptum: With Tel Galen I really miss some platform/balcony. And the second floor is way too small. I wouldn't but it for that reason, too. I'd rather kill Neloth and claim Tel Naga, it has some nice aspects ;)
