Transition screens

Hello,
started from Morrowind (22 May 2017) there are now horizontal transitions when changing zone.
My point of view is that they are ugly and
unpleasant. They are wasting my game experience.

Please Zenimax make a way to disable them !

I 100000000000000000% disagree. I find the elegant and that they make the gameplay and transitions feel smooth.

I can understand that some like it. I am just asking the possibility to disable it.
Each time I travel to a zone my eyes hurt.

Does it really hurt your eyes, or is it more a figure of speech?

I like it. Better then reading looking at a screen that suddenly flashes into something else.
Like looking at a turned off screen and suddenly all the light shines in your eyes. This is an overexagerated example, though.

Yep, I was actually surprised yesterday and I like those transitions. It feels far better than just everything changing instantly. It's minor, but makes the game feel far more fluent, even if a loading screen is popping up.

as a professional film editor and someone with eyes i find these new dissolve transitions offensive. they are flat out dated and ugly. please give us the option to disable the transitions and revert to the old way of loading screens. having a dissolve between pages does not work. in film language a dissolve represents a passage of time or place- to put it as a transition between a beautiful morrowind concept art- and a character selection screen makes no sense- there isnconnection in any level, aesthetic, or narrative. you dissolve between two elements that are connected, for example a concept artwork of morrowind- then dissolve to our character in morrowind.
someone who knows what they are doing would do a straight cut- as it was, or a fade to black and a fade back out. sorry to be a pompous *** on this ***- but its straight up jarring to people with taste , an understanding of visual language and symbiotic, and anyone with two eyes in their head.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm curious. Is the "zone art" that used to display (with random gameplay tips and/or lore about the area) still part of the transition? Or is it just some kind of Powerpoint-esque slide transition effect that was implemented?

Perhaps I've misunderstood, but from what I'm reading it sounds like the dissolve transition seems suitable for a loading screen when going from one zone to another (especially if the zone art is still part of said transition). In terms of the virtual world in ESO, the character is traveling from one place to another and it takes a bit of time - granted, maybe not MUCH time when just walking through a zone wall, but still. Because a huge portion of player travel is done via wayshrine it sounds pretty appropriate to me.

Maybe they could adjust it so that there is no dissolve when entering the game/world from the character selection screen since there's no implied time/distance. Otherwise though, I think I like the idea. (Moreso if the artwork hasn't been deleted in the process.)

Eager to see it on the 6th.
Or 7th...or 8th, depending on the download speed, ha.

I'll have to log in later when my download finishes and see what you're referring to. I don't remember seeing any odd transitions on PTS.

Basically the black borders on top/bottom move in from the border and the painted background image fades in/out. IIRC it's been like that on consoles all the time, just PC was missing it.

I'm on console. But I'm a vFX artist and Graphic Designer. Care sharing video/screenshot?
