The RNG has to stop

I have been looking for one particular sharpened weapon from an undisclosed location. This is an overland set.

I have spent 3-4+ hours a night over the last week zooming around the zone on a treasure chest hunt. I have used up over 2 Million AP trying to get it from Cyrodiil bag vendor (at 5k ap a bag so do the math). I have spent many more hours destroying all that moves in the public dungeon looting every...single...mob because sometimes they will drop set items.

Look ZoS. This system is abysmal. I mainly PvP and it shouldn't be this overly, stupidly, rediculously hard to obtain the right weapon with the right trait. I don't want to continue buying crappy bags containing crappy blue items that I just vendor for "pennys on the gold piece" because it's all garbage. I am bored out of my skull killing mobs in PvE public dungeon. I don't want to continue doing this.

Please for the sanity of us all, you need to change this loot system. I actually gag when I see Training, charged, or infused on weapons. Let's cut out the stupid, and just make any and all weapons have the same basic damage modifier no matter what it is. (basically making everything sharpened). Let us add or change the weapon traits. Make that a crafting hardship. Make that the semi rare but a way more obtainable factor in the equation. I am a patient guy. I don't expect this to be handed to me. I am willing to give it some effort in farming. But this is getting beyond that. I'm sorry, I refuse to pay someone 100's of K gold to buy it because they got lucky. It shouldn't require luck to get what you want in this game, and that's all it seems to be.

I believe RNG should be reworked only for bop items and such, having the "luck" factor in mmo rpgs is crucial at some extent, some gear must be bound to luck and farm (Of course not the current state lol)

I'm fine with a certain amount of RNG. What needs to change is one of two (or both) things:

    1) Restructure the loot tables so that we don't have to spend 30 minutes+ just to have a 1 out of 300+ (probably worse if there are named items in the loot table) chance at the single item we are looking for.

    2) Rebalance the traits, especially for weapons, so that they are more competitive with each other. Having a 4 out 300+ shot to find a useful weapon is much better than a 1 out 300 shot.

Yep, even their token systems are drowning in RNG.

Well, it wouldn't be so bad if other traits were actually useful.

Sure there will always be BiS but the fact we only have one trait in PvE people even bother with... kind of makes the issues worse.

The sharpened trait needs to be nerfed. Should be a % based off of targets resistance. This would make it less effective against lighter armors/lower resistant mobs, making other traits more competitive in general.

The RNG is complete bs and the main reason I don't play much anymore, just add some vendors, Overland and Dungeon and Trials. Drop tokens instead of garbage in those places and let us choose the bloody item we want from the vendors already.

It wouldn't cost that much in a game without an outdated and convoluted systemt hat forces you to choose between spamming chat for hours to buy and sell or run all over hell and creation with a million different player managed vendors to the point where when you want way more than something is worth you don't want to go home empty-handed by the time you find it so the weak ones will pay it when an auction or market systemt hat is at the least regional if not serverwide allows us allt o find what we want or need in under aminute usually and prices eventually hit a standard because of the availability although the scalpers as irl will buy up things yes of course just like with nintendo switch and that is when you wait and rmeinder yourself that eso you would probably never get it which is better than waiting a few weeks until new content levels out and you eventually get it huzzah huzzah huzzah AH FTW

Nah, we don't want to nerf anything. What I propose is making any and all dropped weapons have a basic weapon damage according to 1h, 2h, or bow. From there, let US decide what trait it should have and tie it into the crafting system.I.E....

You find a 1h sword from the set you want. It has 500 weapon damage on it. Now you bring it to a crafter or craft your own weapon trait enchantment. When we make a "crafted" set item, we already do this. Why not have it avaliable for dropped weapons too? Someone smarter than me can work out BoP items, or maybe just leave them as is? Because they come from Dungeons and Trials where you can already trade between groupmates for traits you want.

It could be some gem or item off a node (like nirncrux), or dropped misc. thing off trash mobs with some degree of rarity. You may need multiples of this item to craft it into an enhancement for you weapon. But by no means should these items come from Dungeons and trials for enhancements to overland stuff. That would make me punch cute furry things. (as mentioned, I'm a PvP'er at heart. Less PvE the better for me)

Can't you see the growing cynical way they force people to stay more in the game, pay more money, soon we will have to pay crowns for every step our characters have taken inside the game, because we tread on their holy ground of tamriel, and because we breathe their sacred pixel air. It's a growing trait in the entire gaming industry, but Bethesda and Zenimax are some of those at the front of cynical moneymachines called games, its becoming unbearable. My issue right now is that I just bought a 100$ game which I can't play the way I want because I have 10 characters, so I'm being punished because I have played the game alot, and I have to spend 1000 crowns if I want to continue make the game a better place, I send feedback, I give tips, I help the ingame community by becoming a ingame expert and I keep the ingame economy rolling by playing, filling up groups in dungeons, and I give a sense of a living universe by playing, because of this I must pay 1000 crowns to make a new character to enjoy the game, that I already paid for, and now that morrowind is out I can't make a warden because the 4 new slots must be bought separately, and the crown store is down. So I'm sitting here raging and unable to play the new class which was all I wanted, and sucking my thumb instead because I can't purchase even more crowns and throw even more money because I spent 100 + days in the game and thrown thousands of dollars on the game already, they just launch a 30hour 1 zone content with a few changes for 100$ without giving any character slots to actually play the warden with, not even ONE F**** slot, which would have been enough to not go complete mental rage because of the outrage it is to have to pay 1000 crowns per slot....its not real life gold its a virtual pixel space in order to give life to your game you idiots! enforce people who want to try more gamestyles with new characters, dont demotivate and punish them with your cynical money hoarding.

    Rant complete.

I have run about 200 VMA runs in the past 2 -3 Months and i have yet to receive a Sharpened BOW or Staff , The RNG in this game is designed to Punish the players completing hard content , after all the effort u put into VMA ,i am always scared to open the chest to see a decisive Dagger or a Charged Bow or a powered axe.

It's not really a fallacy Elvis, it's an opinion.

Some people especially those of the Millennial generation have major issues with anything that take even a modicum of effort, besides I never said the old way was better or more fun I just merely suggested that current gamers cry too much about everything.

Just think if you had spent that time PVPing and using your AP to buy/sell necro jewelry to all the pve'ers. You could have bought whatever item it was like 5 times over.

If an item can be bought for gold, it is rarely a good idea to farm said item. Farm gold and buy the item in the market. It is generally faster.

I Just read they nerfed lightning heavy attacks a bit too. I had a feeling it was coming, but it was double-dipping damage I guess, so that's kinda reasonable. I have an inferno staff sharpened too, so I have options ; )
    Balamoor wrote: »

I've done it too. Played EQ1 for 4 years. Trust me, I know what camping/farming is like. But when someone like me who is focused on PvP needs to do this for any extended period of time? It becomes an exponentially worse experience. Like I said, I have patience. But at some point it gets to be a little silly.
If you spent that time farming gold you could have just bought the weapon by now.

So yeah, I could have gone that route, but to me it's a little more satisfying to know I got it on my own. Again, I don't like PvE in this game, and I'm not playing it to become Mr. Money Bags. Less PvE, more PvP. I already said I spent over 2 mil AP trying to get this thing too. So take your gold farming and stick it =/ I don't work in a sweat shop ; p

It's not about farming gold, its about using your time wisely. You said yourself you dont like PVE. Why farm it? That 2 million AP would have probably fetched between 400-600k, which I am guessing would have paid for what you are after.

This this this this x100000. Ive said this so many times. Theres no problems with the RNG system but rather the problem lies with only one of the traits actually being useful. If there was 4-5 traits that were very close to BIS traits for weapons then the grind would be close to non existent.

ZOS needs to change weapon traits to make them all on a more level playing field.
