So, since you will have had to do master writs to get them, you're probably working on 8 or 9 traits, and that's not so bad. It's a little less time, and an actual reward for actually doing your crafting writs. It might be another matter if it were crown store, but the notes specifically mentioned the writ merchant, and that makes it more of an achievement item...and you still have to have the item to pull traits off of in the first place. so, not such a big deal, in my book.

A cash grab and nothing more.
24 hours isn't significant when you've got 30 days to research (not including reduce buffs) an item and the 20 hour cool down practically means people will throw their money away buying these scrolls.
ZoS is hoping people don't understand math to see why these scrolls are a waste of money.
They would have done much better to sell scrolls which allow you to completely research an item, with a 20 hour cool down.
This way, people who are woefully lacking in researching can easily catch up.
ESPECIALLY SINCE RESEARCHING IS NOW POINTLESS SINCE ZOS IMPLEMENTED DUNGEON DROPS WHICH NEGATES CRAFTING COMPLETELY.
Don't waste your money, please.

Which are now woefully out of date to even Overland sets.drakhan2002_ESO wrote: »Crafting is pretty nice to be able to create a specific set with specific traits and specific enchantments on.
Crafting, the actual creation of stuff, is pointless. The skill traits are necessary for the passives for extraction/improvement, which can only be obtained through leveling.Especially for the leveling process there is still a need for crafted gear. While your other points have merit - it's hard for me to agree that researching is now pointless. TBS is still useful for some builds.
It's a thing to help alleviate rich people of their money, to be honest....

Research scrolls diminish all that work and allow players to buy their way into status of master crafter in result killing profession of crafter slowly bleeding it out.

They cost Three writ vouchers each. By the PC NA prices, each research scroll costs 6k gold at top which can be farmed in 4 minutes of picking flowers.
They will flood the market and turn status of Master Crafter into a joke that can be obtained with some pocket money.

Even with the scrolls, it'll still take forever (instead of #$&(*)^! forever) to get all traits.
(and really, I have a hard time recalling any MMO that hasn't streamlined/sped up it's "original" timesinks - earning of old currencies, earlier raids, reputations, leveling, whatever.... otherwise, you alienate new players who join your game, realize that they'll never be able to "catch up", and bail back out. Yes, it's nice that you were able to grind out your Winterspring Frostsaber rep <hipster>back when it meant something, man</hipster>, but you can't expect that 2 year grind to always be two years.* Just the way it is. /shrug)

I really can though. That MMOs have catered to the terminally-short-of-patience is unsurprising. The idea that it is inevitable? That's even worse,

And I always love how the "but we had to walk 2 miles, in snow, uphill, both ways!" folks always portray any shortening of a task to "well they're just handing it out now!". Yeah, changing a 2 year grind into a 1 year grind is totally just catering to instant gratification. Uh huh.
(I remember the old days in WoW. Whenever someone suggested that perhaps it took a bit too much raid currency to buy gear, they were immediately shouted down with "so you want them to mail it all to you the moment you log in!?!?" /facepalm)
It's a thing to help alleviate rich people of their money, to be honest. I don't know if you tried them out on the PTS, but the number of scrolls you need to level all your research would require an astronomical amount of crowns. It's actually quite ridiculous how poor of an investment it is.
Just to give an example: I wanted to craft 9 trait gear on the PTS and had to use these scrolls to make that possible on a template toon. To just get two items to max research level it required well over 50 scrolls to do so. I forget the exact amount, but it was pretty crazy.
Obviously the scrolls are best spent on the last few traits of an item, but even with the sub research reduction bonus it still takes 29 scrolls for that 9th trait.
Conclusion: An utter waste of money.

The Crown versions of these scrolls apparently have no cool-down.
If true, and it does seem to be, then it is turning a 2 year grind into a 2 day grind. Obviously not handing it away, right?
