Elder Scrolls Online Game Lingo for new players!

Add-on - mods for the gam-e, usually found at ESOUI (website).
Farm - When someone, usually endgame players, want to run an area multiple times looking for specific drops. Not a normal dungeon group. Not helpful for new players. If someone is looking for "a dungeon farm" in zone, that's what they mean. Mostly a wasted effort if under CR 160.
CR - Champion Rank, the endgame progression after 50. Gear ranking goes to 160.
CP -Champion Points, the number of points you have is reflected in your CR rank.
Grind - Gathering mobs and repeating an area over and over and over in order to quickly level. Useless if not already an experienced player looking to get quickly to the level cap (50), or gain Champion Points.
Level Cap - The highest rank you can achieve in the game i.e. the point at which you stop earning attribute and skill points as you attain new levels.

Pledges - You can do them at level 45.. But you should stay the hell away from the until CP600

I do alot if vet dungeons solo, and I'm only 455cp. But I have seen plenty of 600cp players in dungeon finder that couldn't tank, heal, or DPS a mudcrab fight, much less ICP!

Meta = ?? no one knows. The word meta has nothing to do with the term meta.
Meta mostly means "use whatever you can to your advantage, especially skill/item imbalance and expoits" or something like "the most impact from the least input.".

If you are new to this game, avoid anything meta until you are over 160 champion points, meta is literally irrelevant until you start doing trial hardmodes.

There's a lot to learn of current meta even for a new player because it helps you learn how the class and skills work. Maybe more importantly, helps you avoid complete fuckups as a new player by pointing you to right direction ^_^.

So, meta does not have to include extreme min-maxing, tradeoffs and exploits, these are just things that get the most attention. I'd say in general meta just means optimized gameplay, used/considered good by many. In even more general, very basic terms, meta in gaming is something that is sensible and makes sense in the current game setting (hence it becomes meta :P).

(Another question is whether you really need to think about it, and the obvious answer to this is no, you can rp your way through this game if you want to... :D)

Burst= DC term in PvP to describe that a keep has a wall below 50% and cannot be revived at.

I think it's different for other factions, but DC says "burst".

Fair enough, knowing what the meta is can definitely be good knowledge. But for new players I'd still say ignore meta, learn the actual game and the mechanics first :) Then start looking up builds and what's the current meta. Being a good player is more valuable than adhering to the meta, but being a good player with absolute crap build won't help anyone :D

These things come naturally if players want to perform well in trials and such.
