Quick Question About Classes

There is still something I don't understand, despite having played the game for months now....
Let's say you have two characters. They are two different classes. Neither one of them has a single skill point spent on class abilities. Now, say you were to have both characters play as the same race, have the same spendings on health/magicka/stamina attributes, and have the same skill points allocated with weapons/armor/world abilities, etc.
At that point, would the characters be equal? Or does the class you play as add passives behind the scenes that I don't even know about?

✭✭✭✭✭Class Actives and Passives have no effect unless you invest skill points into them. So, no points invested into Classes, no passive effects from Classes. If there are underlying synergies, they either should be in balance or it's unintended if they are not.
Everything is done to keep the area under the curve equal, although some curves are front loaded, some are back loaded. A strained example of this is the burst damage from NB's as opposed to the sustained damage over time from a DK.
Where the balance, or rather imbalance, comes from are Synergies, both Intended and Unintended.
Also, a difference of 1% to 3% is meaningless no matter what anyone says. I would go so far as to say 5% is meaningless as to the outcome of any battle.

Interesting. That leaves another question, then. If a player relies more on their gear and less on their class, does that reduce the risk of being heavily influenced by a nerf?0

Thanks for clearing that up. When it comes to that last question, I just got curious because I see a ton of forum posts about class nerfs, and very few about other kinds. I was under the impression that Zenimax rarely tweaked gear in that regard.0

My point being gear has every bit the same chance of being nerfed as do class passives. Whether directly or indirectly.
Especially in ESO it seems nerfs happen often and the meta can shift rather dramatically in a relatively short amount of time.
No build is safe. lol0
