Battlegrounds will suck until we get group voice chat

Queue up with people you know, and go on TeamSpeak, Discord, or your voice platform of choice.

Nothing prevents you from posting the link to your server in the waiting room either, if you decide to mostly pug it and are feeling particularly chatty.

Other games have been running PvP battlegrounds without voice chat for years and have done fine. Get a group together before queueing and make a Discord server if you need voice chat.

ZoS has previously stated, for PC, "There are multiple voice communication programs. We see no need to spend development time and money on programs already freely and readily available."

As mentioned use either discord or teamspeak for PC or party chat for consoles. PUG battlegrounds will be a nightmare so try and establish a tight team of badasses that are well coordinated using the VOIP of your choice!

Say no to wasted development time and reinventing wheel again.

There are already tested and reliable voice communication solutions fo PC: Discord, TS, Ventrillo etc.

No point for ZOS to try put something in a game that is already easily accessible to everyone.

It's used in 90% of the groups (random or otherwise) that I'm in on PS4. Xbox should be the same. It's a requirement in Trials, too, with no exceptions. Most console users are quite familiar with either in game or party chat. PC users are more comfortable with kb in drop-in-drop out sessions.

Same it used pretty much all the time when i play.

Either with friends, or guild chat or dungeon chats.

Its slightly less used when in pug groups with the introduction of text chat but voice chat is still used.

Because it's absolutely not necessary (for ZoS to develop).
    • Teamspeak
    • Discord
    • Vent
    • Mumble
    • GameVox
    • Console built it...
and that's just to name a few.

Clients are easy to set up (not even needed in Discord, you can run from a chat window, should you wish). Servers are not bad either.

If you're dead set on this as a necessity, I'm a little surprised you aren't aware of these options.

Having just in game group chat is what makes them terrible. Have you ever listened to open group chats in games....there is more bickering on your team that actual cooperative work. Unless you are with a group of friends and if that is the case you are probably on TS, Discord, Vent etc anyway.

Built in voice chat is one of the console's big advantages over the PC version (not enough to offset the PC's add-on advantage, but nothing to sneeze at either). It's especially useful for PUG's and random group-ups. I've played on both the PS4 and PC and I don't even bother with PUG's on the PC anymore. Text chat is a PITA, and I've never once seen a PUG where someone links to a Discord or Teamspeak server. PC communication is only worth a damn if you're already in a guild with its own dedicated Teamspeak or Discord server.

If the console versions had add-ons, they would be a no-brainner, IMHO. People who say that PC doesn't need built-in VC have obviously never experienced how useful and convenient that feature is on consoles. It's a really nice feature to have, and makes communication much simpler.

Built in voice chat might be an advantage for consoles but a competent amount of voice chat programs is something PC has over console.

TS / Discord is there for now. Pre-made voice groups are going to dominate BGs, like they do in every MMO.

I've never agreed more with an OP than this one!

Teamspeak is the BIGGEST 3rd party CHEAT software in the game... worse than Cheat Engine, if you ask me. The only way Battlegrounds will ever be fair is if EVERYONE who plays the game has access to in-game voice chat. I'll never understand why ZOS didn't build this into the game from day one.

    Really? Wow, that's a stretch.

Everyone who plays the game does have access to voice chat, assuming they buy a headset and download any of a handful of entirely free programs.

Have played instances PvP with a similar design with no comms and it didn't suck.

Ofc if we were against a group that was using voice chat it was different. Since your on console that is likely to not be an issue.

Virtually no PuG group I'm in (PS4/EU) uses the chat. Most likely due to the language barriers.

I am mystified by the idea (that some are advancing in this thread) that a confused, adhoc mish-mash of third party add-on VC apps are somehow just as good as an automatic built-in VC system that everyone has in common. I can only conclude that some of you have either drank way too much "Master Race" koolaid or are being willfully obtuse. The current Teamspeak/Discord/Ventrillo/Whatever VC solution on PC is kludgy at *best*. Anyone who doesn't see how a native VC system would be much better, more convenient, more useful, etc. is kidding themselves.

You must never have played a MMO where all you could hear was the *** who thought it was awesome to cuss at the top of his voice for an hour and fill the entire town with his rant. No.. no voice communication unless I choose to run an application.

If only option menus existed in games where you could put an option to toggle voice chat on and off, or limit it to party only. :p

Not to mention many who play MMOs aren't necessarily tech savvy enough to know how to use/install such things, or would rather not install software or visit links suggested by some complete stranger.
