Why do you play elder scrolls?

I played TES: 3,4,5 and I loved them for freedom, history, but mostly for lore. I love learning new things about this world. After Skyrim I just couldn't leave mundus, so I bought ESO. But I would be more happy If more things were lore friendly.

I like grouping with people and doing contents. And a few dungeons the night is spent. Or a trial, an afternoon spent.
I'm just numbing myself away from the real world I guess, like a drug.
And when I'm not playing, I like scrolling this forum or watching after people playing on twitch live ESO.

The camera angle on my wood elf as she's walking through a city in third person.

ZoS can't keep NPCs from falling through the world, but they sure do know how to make a fine butt on an elf.

Rng is addicting and so is knowing your class so well you can do any role that isn't your actual role pretty darn well lol
Message me if you want to do trials/dungeons, or need a trading guild! Flawless conqueror magsorc with a bad sense of armor fashion.

    1) At the time of writing I think it's the best MMO around.
    2) It's a game I've put countless hours into.
    3) It has a passionate community around it.
    4) I like the setting.
    5) I dislike Zenimax, but you can tell the studio behind this game cares about the game. I have respect for that :)

I got bitten by the dungeon crawl / RPG game, when I played Dungeon Master on the original Atari ST platform. I got hooked on first-person, and from there, when I started working/playing on intel-based machines, I next moved to the Might & Magic series. After that, I only wanted to play first-person, and came upon Oblivion. I fell in love with the ES series, and played all the games eventually, finishing each at least once, except that damnable Daggerfall with its impossible 3D map. Wanting to try MMO's, I tried D&D Online because it was FTP, but it didn't capture my interest. then when ESO went BTP, I came here, and got completely hooked

Because the FFXIV servers were down for maintenance.

Dude that game is lonely ..

Lol + no pvp = time waster for me

PLUS where else am i able to hunt down and destroy RADICAL ALDEMERI DOMINION :)

And i wont stop untill they are ALL GONE

Not sure what you mean by lonely, my Guild is fairly active and always willing to do stuff. I can't log on to FFXIV without being dragged away to do a trial, raid or dungeon

There is PvP also but I'll admit it isn't as engaging as ESO's PvP (trade off being that FFXIV'S PvP isn't a laggy, buggy mess of load screens so, you know, pros and cons).

I enjoyed ESO, for a time, but so many bugs, balance issues and other problems just hampered my overall enjoyment to a point I left back to FFXIV.

My boyfriend loves Elder Scrolls for a long time, and he made me discover it with Skyrim. I love RPG and cats. I think it was enough for me to play ESO. And now, I love my kitty healer.

Because it's on the console and since I'm no longer a hard core WoW raider, ESO is nice and what I call, "mid core" . Just enough challenge to have fun but not too casual that I die of boredom. Plus, it's the only one of the few console mmos that you can truly create a toon of your preference.

I'm just patiently waiting for the warden. I've wanted this class since beta and no other class can fill the void I need from the warden class. Love nature magic. (And yes, I played a balance druid in WoW).

Been hooked since TES 3, and totally addicted since Oblivion.
I play for the atmosphere and the "Feel" of the game, not necessarily the erroneous rule-set that Zo$ upper management and/or "directors" have forced.

All my Kudos go to the art, sound, music, writing, animator, networking, and database administrator departments.
The rest of the game is just logic and scripts, all of which are determined by people with only one mindset: Profit.

I play and sub because a good friend of mine got a job writing for the game years ago and he is still employed there. I've subbed to every MMO he's worked on.

But now that I am retired and watching my bank account shrink I keep paying the money because it's a good game (also, crafting bag, must has). Some things could use work (hello jump physics and hip flaps and pasted on shoulder armor), and I can go days, weeks, without logging in because the game takes so much time to do things in that I hesitate to commit to the log in (heck, even just logging in is a long slog through loading screens). Yet the world is properly immersive, and one reason it takes so much time is that it offers so many things to spend the time on. I have yet to do all the quests except in EB, I've barely touched the various DLC's since I want to see the "main" stories first, I'm still holding off on my first house because I want to buy and decorate it once I feel like spending the hours needed.

I love the writing of the game, the scale of the cities and zones, and the sense that there is always more to do. So long as that continues, so will my sub.

Pretty much this, the quest structure kinda reminded me of Skyrim and Oblivion. The gameplay itself is more action-y MMO fare, but the world and quests are very much Skyrim Online (and I like that).

I play it now because there any really any story focused MMO's out currently and TES VI isn't out, and because I love the questing and story in this game. I like the game overall, it has potential but I don't know if it will live up to it. I loved Skyrim, so did a lot of the player base. All these elitists who say that you are somehow lesser for just enjoying Skyrim and saying it was a bad game because "muh morrowind" "muh oblivion" honestly that's getting old. Skyrim was a great game and it shows because so many people enjoyed it, just because it didn't fit into peoples personal views of what it should have been does not mean it's an objectively bad game, judging by its popularity it's an objectively good game. If Morrowind and Oblivion were so superior, they would be the most talked about game that still draws in new players in the TES series. I don't dislike either, I just never really got into them.

    Take your pick as to why I play;

    It's Elder Scrolls!
Sheer boredom! (Not while playing of course).
    Exploration is OK.
I kind of like the crafting system.
Interaction with others when I feel like it freedom to solo when I do not.
ESO+ if I want to use it but still able to play if not.

I could probably list more but it's been a bit of a long day!

It's a really good game, that allows me to create a character/s and play how ever I want. All at the same time in the Elder Scrolls settings. It's not too bright, and it's not too dark, it's just right. Very mature storylines. The graphics are top noch. And I get to meet some people from around the world.

What is there not to like about this game?

I played the original Morrowind when it came out, it was the only game that kept me playing for 3 months on a daily basis, at least until ESO came around. Played Oblivion, Skyrim and now Elder Scrolls Online. I'm mostly in for the single player PVE aspect here, but I'm starting to warm up to the group PVE as well. Really looking forward to starting a new character in Morrowind on Monday. I tried plenty of other games, single player or MMOs, and I haven't found anything better than the Elder Scrolls series.

    1. ESO is the mmo with some of the best graphics/aesthetics on ultra, many good storylines, great diversity of things to do, large scale battles in Cyrodiil, and almost endless progression it seems, which all in all makes you feel that you are spending time on something meaningful, like reading a good book.

    2. No better mmo available, which is strange because the market seems to be almost screaming for a new mmo which has at least the same standard and richness as ESO. Other mmos are so bad that I'm thinking about going back to D&D, don't even need a computer for that.

As far as consoles are concerned, most of the so called "mmos" apart from ESO and FFXIV are just multiplayer FPS shooters masquerading as RPG's *coughdestinycough* . I wish eso and FFXIV weren't the only ones daring enough to import on consoles.
