Optimal Group Size for Catching Rare Fish?

Galenus_of_Pergamon
Yesterday, I led a group of 12 with the objective of catching all of the rare fish in Auridon. We started with rare ocean fish. Only half of us (6) caught all four rare ocean fish in an hour and a half. The fishing holes dried up super quickly too.

So, what's the best group size to increase the odds of catching rare fish while also not drying fishing holes so quickly?

3-4 is optimal. You can do more and yes it will increase your chances but the more people the faster the fishing hole dries up, requiring you do a lot more running around looking for fishing holes.

I can tell you that 2 is not very helpful. At least for me. I come upon a hole someone is fishing, I get white fish, the other person starts getting Blues and Greens.

There are some areas in the game that have enough holes that large groups can work them in a pattern, but they are few and far between.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

One person. I have tested it many times and I always got my needed fishes fishing alone. I'm a Master Angler by the way, so I'm not saying this just because.

I also did a majority of my fishing alone going for master angler. I would have streaks of good rng and get all the fish from one hole, and then I wouldn't get a fish for like 3 hours lol. It's a gamble. However I did notice I would get a lot more fish went I had a small group with me.

It was said yonks ago that 2 players = 10%, 3=15% and 4=25%. Never went up above that. 4 is the most required.

    Thank you!

This is a great answer. Math is factual.

Do you recall the source of these percentages?

I agree that two people don't seem to work much better than one, while 3-4 people seems to be the sweet spot between raising your chances, but not fishing out the spot super-quickly. I couldn't imaging fishing with 12 people! I think the largest group I ever fished in was six.

I generally fish with other people mainly for the social aspect - it's loads of fun to chat on Discord and fish!
However I think the percentages are pure speculation, but as an active member in a fishing guild and who does very little else in the game lately I'd love to have some concrete numbers.
Any chance @ZOS_GinaBruno can shed some light on this for us?

This, plus you catch more fish to filet for that perfect roe. I always fish solo.

The optimal number is 1 (back away from my fishies!!). No offense meant to anyone, but seriously.. don't make me gut you like a fish.. step away from my fishies... >:)
