Prior Morrowind launch: what do you think the proper $ value of this expansion?

So I want to make two polls, one before launch and one around one month after, to see what people consider the proper value of content there is in Morrowind.

I'm not biasing it towards either side. We have to take into account amount of work developers invest in such a content. Even if it's not entirely satisfying it's important to pay for the effort.

about the same as the other DLC.

And it should be free for ESO+.

(No. I have never subed, nor do I have any plans on doing it. But I feel like renaming a DLC something else and change the ESO+ pollicy just to make a few extra bucks is a really bad way to treat customers.)

I'll pay $40 if an expansion is big . Multiple Dungeoms , a good solid 50+ added quests and "Game Improvements" are made . I quoted that because for me that's just as important as any content in an expansion if not more important . Of course , what is a game improvement is pretty vague term and subjective . I didn't find the majority of changes in testing to be actual improvements as they were actually mostly progress hindering balance changes to address power creep . A scrap to the CP system from battlefield PVP with no compensation for time and work invested in the old system .

So for me , paying for expansion that breaks up past achievements is rediculous and it didn't hit the mark for me in actual size and content to be an expansion . Some will say they added a new class . To me that's a big whoop , I don't actually want the class and also don't like specific classes behind paywalls . Content behind paywalls is fine , not classes .

They decided to put the battlefields behind the paywall too . That always splits up a PVP community . So you end up with less participants . That should just be added as continual support towards PVP that has suffered since launch . A payback to everyone that watched servers get smaller and smaller because they couldn't get their server performance to match up with what they advertised . Ya , I think subscribed PVP players since launch were owed those as compensation . Many nights were lost to Cyrodiil just being unplayable .

But ya $40 is fine for a good system and a sizable expansion .

Sure they can. Here are some arguments put forth by apologists:

"This is not a DLC, this is a chapter"

"ESO can't be compared to other MMOs' prices"

"Morrowind is priced just like other MMO's expansions"

    "Crybabies want everything for free"

"Morrowind is bigger than any other DLCs and therefore worthy of not being in the crown store"

"The definition of a DLC and expansion is not a fixed one"

"Still cheaper than other entertainment alternatives"

"ZOS is a business and is obligated to make as much money as possible"

"ZOS is allowed to change their business model whenever they like"

$30, because $40 suggests it's comparable to standard MMO expansions.

Your poll is horribly constructed, though that is partially the forum's fault for not allowing multiple choices (if it's free for subs, it still has a price for non-subs, so everyone choosing this option should vote twice).

$40 is fair! As long as I'm not paying $60+ for something like that. So dumb with that typical AAA game mentality.

I would say the amount of content in this xpac might be worthwhile. It will go down in time just like the main game itself, so no big deal here. I never had a problem with the idea of an xpac taking dominance over DLCs, just shows how many people aren't experienced with MMOs. ^^

I personally bought the upgrade for $48 for the digital collector's. But if I had bought the base upgrade, it would've been $32, and that is closer to what I feel the expansion is worth. There's just simply not enough new content compared to Orsinium to justify a higher price.

    - Not enough content to justify being called an expansion. Morrowind is an overpriced DLC - $40 when normally this sort of thing should cost $20

$40 seems about right for the standard version I guess?

I'd say they could've made it simple and only locked creating wardens behind ESO+. There would've still been plenty of content to entice subs, and they would've had the plus of a HUGE number of 1 month subbers creating their wardens.

Its going to be much larger than Orsinium, and considering the size and new content, id say around $30 or $35 at least. It is supposed to be a full blown expansion to the main Story Quest.

I don't think classes should be locked behind a pay wall.

I'm not saying u said this but to anyone that says it's free if I'm paying 15$ a month that's not free I'm paying a sub.

Could u imagine If sorc, dk, temp, NB you had to pay to unlock them would have stop playing a long time ago.

I don't see how they just can't add the class to the character creation screen and make the "DLC" be crowns or eso+

That would be the incentive for players who never subscribe to try it out, once. Permanently unlock it at your first subscription, and enjoy everything else that comes with it for the next month.
If that was the case, I'd definatly try subscribing.

If this is an expansion then WTF is Wrothgar?
Sure it didn't bring a new class. You can argue that point.
It did bring a large new territory, 2 public dungeons, 5 or so world bosses, MA, several costumes and so much more.
for 40$ the "expansion" had better be 2/3eds the size of the original game or it's just an over priced DLC which I'll wait for price drop to buy.

Assuming that Vvardenfell is 25%-30% bigger than Wrothgar, I kind of view it this way if it was sold on the Crown Store:

Vvardenfell - 2,500 Crowns (free for ESO+ members)
    Warden Class - 3,000 Crowns
    Battlegrounds - 2,000 Crowns

If they had instead broken it apart and gave Vvardenfell to subs and charged separately for the Warden Class and Battlegrounds you would still be looking at 5,000 plus crowns (or about $40 worth). That doesn't include the 3,000-9,000 Crowns worth of pre-order goodies included in the various packages. So versus probable Crown Store pricing, $40 is probably fair.

That being said, you then have to look at what is included versus other expansions put out by other companies and that is where it may fall short for the price. While it may have a new class and 30 hours of new content, that is very light for $40 expansion. LOTRO's Mines of Moria was about $40 and took months to play through all the new content. It had five new zones, two classes, a new system added to the game (legendary weapons) and much more. Morrowind seems more on par with SWTOR's Rise of the Hutt Cartel and that was $20.

Time will tell but my only concern is if the price versus value is too far off for many, ZOS may find they have shot themselves in the foot like GW2 did with Heart of Thorns. It has leaked that a second expansion is underway for GW2, with a sizable amount of content, and yet it has been met with apathy because so many feel so burned by the rip-off that was Heart of Thorns. Hopefully the same will not happen with Morrowind.

Forgot that this new 'chapter' is under NDA... so i'll have to edit my answer. I dont think it should be classed as a chapter but a dlc.

    [deteled]

Therefore, in my opinion it should have been priced around 20 quid like wrothgar and free for eso subs.

Then again, i stand by the opinion that BGS and the new class being hidden behind a paywall proves once again how greedy the company is, they should have made it in base game cus it affects pve and pvp. TG and DB skill lines only affect stealing etc etc. Not comparable. But it's not worth the 30-35 quid.

If you buy the digital upgrade for $40, I think its fine. I'm including the pre-order bonuses in this price. If you're paying that much later then you have been ripped off. But the pre-order price is about right. Battlegrounds and warden should be base game updates and open to everyone who bought the game originally. Emails should have been sent to folks who have left the game to come back and enjoy the new warden and new battle grounds. Plus, they may have never known what the game was like once it was working pretty well.

I don't have an issue with the price since other MMOs release their expansion pack with a similar price . My issue is , that 40 dollars is not the same value for everyone . I live in Turkey and it costed me 150 liras . That's like , a lot of money for an expansion pack . Even for a game , that's a lot and I paid it for an expansion pack . 40 dollars doesn't seem like a lot of money for most of you but it is crapton money for some people out there like myself . I hoped they would made a discount type of thing for long-time subs but didn't happen . Can't say I am happy to pay this much money for an expansion pack but I can't expect a special discount because I live in a different country .

Note : When Morrowind drops , there should be a discount on Character Slots in Crown Store . In order to create a Warden , I will have to pay again or delete one of my characters . That's just not good .
