Battlegrounds for pros, Cyrodiil for noobs?

Actually I agree here. There are tons of really skilled players (which is what this person seems to be denying) but, let's be honest, no one is a pro. Pro, or "professional" means you get paid. Until The first ever "ESO World Super Tournament for $500,000" is announced we're all still amateurs.
I really hope that one guy who hates the literal definition of pay to win chimes in to disagree with me.

It won't take long for organized teams in best gear, combined with best team make ups per battleground type, using VOIP systems to dominate. If they get qued up with pugs and casual players the BG will be so one sided it will be silly. First month will see a ton of action but if match ups become one sided constantly then you will simply see less and less players queing1

That's practically impossible this game is not that popular to afford having a solo and group queue, if Battlegrounds were in the base game it will be already a big issue and MM will still take a lot of time.
I would like to see where they said that and if they do it I don't think I will play BG's because when Guild Wars did it (and they have 20 times the population of ESO) it used to take 20-30 minutes to get matched with another team and I'm not going through that in ESO.K1 The Big Monkey0 -

I could be wrong, but I think they said they will TRY to match premades vs premades and pugs vs pugs, but will group them together with pugs if needed to keep queues low.
They don't have the best track record with group finders/queue mechanics, so I think there is cause for concern, but we really don't know how bad (or not bad) it'll be yet.Thrice Empress, Forever Scrub0 -
its been my experience that open world pvp always ends once you introduce battlegrounds. So i expect to hear the lamentations of the open world pvpers in about 3 months.0

Pretty narrow view. I could flip that around and say Cyrodiil will be where zerg players stay who cannot function without massively outnumbering their opponents and crutching on copious amounts of support to simply not suck. Both views are ignorant.
Its not black and white. The solo and small group play I do daily is quite enjoyable and functional in regular Cyrodiil tyvm. And it will continue to be my favorite aspect of this game , because nothing can top the sense of adventure and chaos in open world PvP. But battlegrounds offer structured and instanced PvP where you don't have to spend time looking for fights, where you know that you wont be numerically disadvantaged cus of bad players that have herd mentality. I know that lemmings "organized group players" might not appreciate even or fair fights, but that has an appeal to some of us.
My only frustration is that the zergbads I see day in and day out will probably abstain from BGs after getting their teeth kicked in by people who actually know how to PvP.2 -

Second it looks like they have an as bad group finder as ESO, queues in finder is because too many DD over healer and tanks.
Say you have 20 players: 6 solo players, 2x4 man and two parital group 1x2 and 1x3 joining finder every minute.
Game put the two 4 man and the 3 man and one random in one match, the 2 group get 2 randoms the other 3 random goes in another group and you have to wait for 5 more. Replace 1 minute with 5 if you like system is the same.
Treat 3 man group as full group and add an random, 2 man as non grouped, have an wait timeout for mixing grouped and non grouped teams.
Now matchmaking complicates this a lot. Simplest way to do it is to give player ranking, have 5 levels from elite to light attack brigade depending on score. here it will also try to match level on top of above rules, again you have an wait timeout there it start mixing skill categories. If smart give none grouped an internal penalty so non grouped will preferable be matched with groups who is weaker with them.
So playing in the middle of night you will get matched with all sort of odds but on Sunday afternoon you get good matchmaking.Grinding just make you go in circles.

Nothing wrong with zergs and organised raids as long as the campaign pops are balanced, as Thornblade usually was. We had great battles there before IC came in autumn 2015. Azura today is also pretty balanced at primetime.
It's prb good for ESO in the long run to give competitive people a DLC that they will enjoy, in the same that housing was created to satisfy those who like rpg.
But ESO stands out from other games because of Cyrodiil, so I personally would have preferred a significant upgrade of Cyrodiil instead of getting battlegrounds (which may be a flop like IC).0 -

✭Actually slower rank based matching isn't a bad idea. After the first week when all the solo players are gone and it's just preforms v.s. preforms a little time in the queuing will allow match diversity. What's going to happen often is 3 preforms will get out of a match and re-queue and because matching is so fast there won't be people in a queue to match them with except for the other 2 teams they just played and they will be matched again. The only easy way to avoid that is for some teams to take a 2-3 min break after a match before queuing.
