Question about grouping, levelled player with new player.

zipper76_ESO
My buddy is just starting the game tomorrow. I have a C132 templar that I would like to play with him. How will this work? I know he will be questing in areas I've already completed, since he wants to be the same faction as I am. Will I be even gaining much of anything on that character or would I be better off starting a new one? Honestly the thought of starting a new character on here doesn't appeal to me. I have a maxed out mount and the thought of starting that all over again is just icky. I really want to avoid spending money on crowns as I am already subbed and that's about as much of a commitment in terms of money I am willing to make. So buying riding lessons from crowns is off the table.

Has anyone played their levelled up character with a new character? What was your experience? Any tips?

You kind of gave yourself the answer. If you did the quests(Gathered the skyshards, lorebooks etc.) then you won't get anything from it. You could follow him around to help him kill bosses or w.e. but that would take some fun away, wouldn't it?

If you want to gain something from it - level up a new character. A fast mount is not that much of a big deal - once you reach lv10, hop into Cyrodiil => Get your free Skill Point => Unlock Rapid Maneuver. And you'll still be running fast with an unlevelled mount.

What you can do is take your current character with the new player towards an other alliance, even if you're both having the same starters alliance. In this way you can do the questline both.

Starting a new character would be the other option if you want to do the quests already completed, and even if that doesn't sound appealing at first it can be worthy later on. As for levelling skills like crafting, horses, I don't got those on most alternative characters either, as they're secondairy towards my main anyways, and can't be bothered to level them all day again.

I never thought of that. I'm done with all the areas for my main Pact faction, and about halfway through the areas for Covenant(I think, whichever one has Glenumbra anyway). Where would be go to start the 3rd faction?

Aldmeri Dominion's Starter Zone: Khenarthi's Roost. If you don't wanna do the Island, start in Vulkhel Guard, Auridon.

With One Tamriel everyone is levelled so at least you will be fighting level independent mobs and dropping loot of your level. It was one of the reasons for One Tamriel so players of any level could group and and do stuff together. You just won't be able to do quests since you did them but you can fight the same mobs and run the same public dungeons etc.

But keep in mind that you can do PvP together only if you choose the same alliance. Otherwise you will have to fight each other

His friend can create a pact character and travel towards AD's Vulkhel Guard afterwards, assuming zipper76 is pact himself too.

I would start a new toon and play together as you might find he phases in and out if you go to an area that you have already completed quests in.

This pissed a few of my friends off so much they quit the game but it's easy enough to get around.

    Have fun... ;)
