I keep reading that magicka nightblades are a jack of all trades type for pve and pvp?

Alright so I am looking for a new class, my stamsorc is fun but very ridig, not very much flexibility in builds, having to use the same buffs and etc, I tried a stamplar and wow talk about boring, sorry but I am not interested in using the same exact weapon skills with 2 or 3 class skills.

Anyways about magicka nightblades, what are they like? How are the looks of the abilities as well? Thanks all.

Complicated as hell and the biggest L2P curve of any class for PVP . Sure anyone can be a ok Magblade but there are few great ones . I am just now getting ok at it after a year .

Hard to master class? Sign me up I am always the best at those, do they have a learning curve in pve? What do their skills look like?

THE CAVELRY HAS ARRIVED! Cav is a professional magblade, (in his not so professional opinion). He is immortal and is fighting for the Pact since 2E 572, amidst the turmoil of the Second Akaviri Invasion. He protects the provinces of Skyrim, Morrowind and Black Marsh.

Check out his PVP YouTube channel !

The worst part is they are hard to master and they still have the lowest damage.

Mage blade is the most fun class I have played. Back before proxy det was not nerfed into extinction I had a lot of fun with it in pve and pvp. After the nerf I gave up and went back to sorc. Sorc is a better jack of all trades but mage blade In the right hands can be good.

The good pvp mage blades I have fougt either kill you and half the group in an instant from stealth or put down twisting path, use swallow soul and harness magika for strong heals over time, then burst players down using crippling cramp, flame clench, assasins will then soul harvest ultimate.

Also love to use mage blade in pve. The aoe is very strong. Mage blade can jump into the middle of a group then stack twisting path with wall of elements and the use power extraction to suck the life force of all surrounding enemies. Pretty sure aoe dps numbers on my mage blade surpasses my sorc

Reminds me of trying to get out of my bed with a leg cramp .

Jack of all trades is a good way to describe mageblade, as they kind of have a skill for everything: Range spam, Melee Spam, AOE Spam, Damage buff, Regen buff, Single target DoT, AOE DOT, and easy access to a fair amount of other buffs etc. If you could only use class skills in a build, NB would rise up near the top of the ranks pretty fast.

I will echo what others have said. In the right hands, NBs can blow up entire zergs in PVP and pull 50k+ single target in PVE. That said, they are more difficult to play than most and require a very tight rotation. In the current meta, they are perhaps the most dependent on animation canceling of any class to be successful (Merciless and Siphoning Strikes are designed around it).

I really enjoy my mageblade for solo play and gank/bomb builds. In group stuff, its hard to create scenarios where mageblade outshines mSorc, but I guess that's a different debate.

They are certainly the best bomb/gankers in PVP. In bigger more recent news, some very good players have them parsing ahead of Sorc on the PTS after today's update. If I didnt already have 2 of them, I would probably be rolling a NB right now.

I was also considering magicka dk, are they versatile at all? How many abilities are viable right now? I am mostly interested for all the close melee powers and ranged for a battlemagey playstyle.

One of my buddies who barely plays has a CP 200ish Magblade. When he does play he plays PVP only in 1st person. Somehow he still does well.

I've spent part of the last week trying to convince him to come back to ESO under the premise that anyone who can play a magblade in 1st person well might actually be the best ESO player on Earth. He was shocked to find out that many people consider it the hardest class.

It really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. Magic DK has many strengths. No secret that my opinions are typically biased towards PVE with a trials focus. In that setting, versatility in any class kind of goes out the window. People find the meta for max DPS, and competitive players stick to it for the most part.

In trials, mDK is absolutely the best tank, and they have been at or near the top for melee DPS basically since launch. That said, their rotation hasnt changed much in 2 years, so diverse is not the first word that comes to mind. haha

Edit: also, we are right on the cusp of perhaps the biggest balance change we have seen in ESO. Trying to predict what will be best next patch is still up to a lot of guess work. My guess, is that you are going to see fewer sorcs and more NBs and DKs in trials next patch. Sorcs are slated for a nerf to their pets, which is the only reason they are considered OP at the moment. If history is any indication of the future, they will go overboard on the nerf to the point that pet builds are nowhere near the top any more. NBs got a big buff today, and DKs are in a strong spot.

Cool glad dks are in a strong spot, but I am interested in magicka dk dps for pve.
