Any zone will do as long as you're 10/10 Clothier. Keen eye will help you see it but even without it it's the only black (its supposed to be red but it looks black to me) flower. Just hope no one else is out farming it. I find tons of it in lowbie zones because people must still be farming it in high zones out of habit.

There are none. All the good spots are flooded with Bots rubber banding

    Sadly..

Best thing to do is farm motifs or overworld sets by opening chests and killing bosses

Items like spinner spriggan necropotence etc all sell extremely high

As in i made 1m in 2 days farming spinner and necro just make sure you got treasure passive in cp.

Spinner flame staff goes for 200k plus along with the other sharpened weapons like spinner spriggan sun set.

With the gold you make off those sells you will accumulate MUCH more materials than farming raws and refining. I promise you that

There is one good spot no one seems to go to when I farm silk and averages 100-150 raw an hour. Ran into by accident and it's loaded.

But I'm not telling. Especially seeing how high refined silk is going for.

    Writs and hirelings.

Surveys from writs give me all kinds of mats. Also Hirelings give you a steady supply of mats every day you log in.

I'm finding that places where people are maniacally farming sets (Rivenspire, Bangkorai and Malabal Tor) are great places to farm raw mats because everyone is in such a hurry to get to the next chest/boss that they leave nodes behind. ;p

I agree with this. And not only that, but there's always a chance you can happen upon a random treasure chest that contains something quite desirable (and expensive) while you're farming your nodes. Get the treasure hunter perk for best results, obviously.

not sure how accurate it is - but, it feels like the greatest density of resource nodes are on the "starter" islands...

additionally as an extra little bonus...very few of the players there are concerned with farming...

Edit: just read @Ihatenightblades post...they have a very good point...

personally, my rng sucks though and I rarely come across those high end valuable items...

Rivenspire is good for mats. And craglorn too as everyone is in rivenspire for necropotence. Really mats are everywhere and it's best to go farming in off hours.

I love Bangkorai. I seemed to have the best luck finding everything there. Maybe its just me but when I farm mats, its Bangkorai. Maybe I just like the way it looks (^)_(^)

Starter zones. Hit all of them. DLC zones (other than IC).

Avoid places with lush backdrops, as they are more difficult to see.

Just find a zone that's relatively flat and you can get around easily. Not having to fight terrain is an added bonus.

If all you want is mats, do any of the starter islands. I sometimes have the whole zone to myself.
If you want to farm mats but also come across chests, choose a zone where they drop. You can kill two birds with one stone. (I was able to get four Spinners rings three arcane and one healthy and a boatload of mats while I was looking for the Spinners necklace. Still haven't found it though, grrrr...)

    Tips:
Have one dedicated "node grinder/chest hunter".

My vampblade has Night Silence and Shadow Dancer and is running the Steed stone. When I pop a speed potion and activate Maneuvers, I basically zip around the map fast AF.
It also helps if you have the Legerdemain passives unlocked so you can just open up locked chests quickly.
Get the two passives that decrease your gathering times of resources and the one that increases the quality of treasure you get.
Get the passives that help you spot nodes easier.
If you can/prefer to run addons, get one that shows where resource nodes and chests are located. This will help you immensely.

    Good hunting.

Hew's Bane. The red color of the materials contrast with the bright colors of the terrain making them easier to spot, and since the Zone is fairly small, it seems the Mats are more densely populated than normal. However you'll want to go there during the Graveyard hours when most others are logged out. It gets quite busy there.

Personally I just have my crafter run around in Craglorn gathering all my materials, you get the added benefit of nirncrux so why not? I finished my research traits some time ago so now nirncrux just translates to more money for me since its a useless trait now days.

He is an Orc in all divines medium armor & jailbreaker set with steed mundus and Windrunning CP passive unlocked for the awesome sprinting speeds.

I prefer Fiords & Darkstride, you can sprint at top speed as long as you like when gathering.

I farm with fjords/darkstride on my khajiit nb, with windrunner & treasure hunter , steed mundus stone. plus use rapid maneuver for sprinting and dark shadow for losing mobs, when I don't want to kill them. Craglorn if one of my favs , nirn is nice for doing master writs.

Doing writs on low level alts works too.
I piled up a lot of mats as an bonus for the anniversary event.
Give the survey maps to the max level crafter and you get max level mats.

An level 1 crafter doing an writ will always get reward material of his level and they make up for that he uses.
If you anyway does horse feeding on him having he doing writs is no big deal.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.
