This is so sad, because competition is healthy...

People treating damn near everything - pvp, pve, school grades, discussions, car/house/yard/@#%^ size, salary, class, etc - as "competition" is part of what's causing everything to go downhill these days. Too many people trying to "get ahead" by shoving back the guy next to him, everyone out for themselves, etc.

Just like water or oxygen, a bit of competition might be good for you, but way too much will screw you up.

Why does Cyrodiil has to be for noobs?

In Cyrodiil one can become Grand Overlord just by pvdooring. And one can hide in the zergs. Not so in Battlegrounds.

    @Taleof2Cities

By noobs I mean all those with (below) average skills, even when they have BiS and max CP. Will scaling prevent slaughter of average players?

I guess it depends on whether there's trees to hump for those "skilled" players.

Posts can be interpreted in different ways. For example, is it possible that Sheey is a bit ironic here? And how can you deduce his IQ from these short posts? Furthermore, the size of his ego doesn't matter if he got the skills to back it up. Better to be confident enough to not fear the elites. Take it all in a more Zen way, if you like :)

Even streamers and big youtubers get hit by this. You barely see them laugh or having fun. "Omg this game" "this is broken" "*** this dude" "*** ***" are things you'll hear all the time.

If battlegrounds are where the "good" players go, so be it. Imma have some oldschool fun with the noobs in cyrodiil:)

This. This makes me sad actually.

I'm trying to understand and keep asking myself questions everyday.

How is this fun? How do these "elite" people enjoy the game. They don't even really show any emotion 95% of the time unless somekinda random rage moment. They just focus so hard on being the best in a stupid rather meaningless game that everything and everyone just turns toxic. I'd rather act like that trying to achieve something meaningful irl to boost my character and gain new experience or skill. I've never been like this even during my own days of "ingame glory".

Being competitive doesn't mean you have to be like this and ruin the game for others. You don't have to be toxic. I played high end pvp arenas in WOW for years in the top 1% of players and I'd rather teach and befriend people when they underperform or don't do what's necessary. I would even teach my own enemies.... ugh...

But who am I kidding, humanity is ***.

    I don't think so.
There will be newbies in both cyrodiil and battlegrounds. There will be veteran players in both cyrodiil and battlegrounds.
It's true that new players (or noobs as you call them) will have a harder time in bgs than cyro, but still, I hope everyone enjoys both pvp options.

Being competitive is fun for a lot of people. It's more like highs and lows than the steady joy you get from chilling and casually playing. When you're trying your hardest and you die, you feel like ***, but when you kill someone really good, you feel amazing. And obviously when you're trying hard you need to focus, hence the "emotionless" expressions.

I get bored quickly in games unless I feel challenged, so I love competitive pvp. Don't insult just cause you don't understand. But yes the good players calling others *** etc are indeed toxic. I understand not everyone's in there to be the best, no point insulting them.

Well they added a couple things in battlegrounds to give noobs an edge. If they fixed the matchmaking to not match randoms with premade groups then it will be fun for all.

Nobody likes to be slaughtered or in a match where you are outnumbered.

In the end it will all depend on how well the matchmaking system works.

It just has a leaderboard, a leaderboard where you get #1 just by spending time on it.

Not true if it still works like it did on pts. It would reset your score top what you got on your last game. Even if it was lower than the score you had previously.

So if you scored 3000 in ctf and then played another game of ctf and scored 2000 then the score of 2000 would be the score on the leaderboard. Again unless things changed this was how the leaderboard was working on PTS.

People were complaining about it because it makes no sense.

Never felt like that and i literally spent half of my life playing competitive top 1% PVP in WoW. I think it's more of a personality issue then. Or people just need to get their real lives sorted and play the games without taking their IRL issues out on other players or having a BIG D-DPS, while belitteling everyone who does not. I just really don't know. Not trying to insult anyone it's just that i don't see any other logical reason anymore. I do get some good feelings from PVP when i can best another good player, doesn't mean I'll be a *** to everyone and act high and mighty. I was a complete noob too once. People fail to realize this very often. I prefer giving people a chance and making them the best players rather than acting as a high and mighty god.

    @Poliwrath

EDIT: Then again it might just be me, I just like playing for sheer amounts of fun :) No stress, no drama. There's way too much of that in real life.

Should be a train wreck. With no ranking system to match same skill players with each other, (if they could even do this. The group finder is not one of their strong points.) and allowing full groups to queue together. The wailing should reach epic proportions.

I think you just have to practice not caring about what other people have to say. When I pvp, I'm simply putting my mechanical skill against someone else's - their words are irrelevant. Once you can do that, it stops being stressful, and you'll even play better.

The difference between a fully geared veteran PVPer and someone who will only dabble in PVP when battlefields comes around will be like 80s Tyson fighting infants.

Even if you have an absolutely perfect end game build the PVE only guy is not gonna have a chance in most cases.

aha @Rohamad_Ali ...so, it would seem this very humorous observation is linked to an interesting genre of social discourse: "the put down"...

very clever stuff - there are more gems like this:
" You couldn't pour water out of a boot if the instructions were on the heel. "
" It's kinda sad watching you attempt to fit your entire vocabulary into a sentence. "
"I could explain it to you, but, I can't understand it for you"
" I bet your brain feels as good as new, seeing that you never use it. "

and, one of my new personal favorites: " Everyone who ever loved you was wrong. "

Or perhaps the toxicity will to a larger degree be contained in battlegrounds while casuals and laidback veterans enjoy Cyrodiil. But Cyrodiil, at least Azura, has always been relatively free of toxicity compared to vet trials and dungeons.

My hypothesis is that much of the toxicity is caused by withdrawal symptoms when veterans don't have new storylines and challenges to finish in this game. Addicts are often toxic. In a way it proves that ESO is a good producer of dopamine. The devs just got to push more new content in order to satisfy the hunger.
