No, consoles would have a disadvantage with the late start to the new trials, story and other content that may become spoiled for them

Yes, consoles already have a hard time without addons, two extra weeks to farm vMA is hardly an advantage.

I likely will preorder before 22nd(and pray there's even enough space on my ssd for Morrowind XD) but I did not ask for an early access and am not looking forward to one. I'm not looking forward to the changes, they might end up being good or bad on the whole, especially with the recent ESO live stuff, but I was expecting them on 6th June and I see no point in them coming 2 weeks earlier.

It's also pretty unfair to console people, yeah.

It's almost time to return to Morrowind in The Elder Scrolls Online, and today we have some exciting news for existing PC and Mac ESO players.

The launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind is just a few weeks away, and today, we're happy to announce that PC and Mac players who purchase the Digital Upgrade version of ESO: Morrowind will have the option to begin their adventures in Vvardenfell a little early on Monday, May 22! This means you'll be able to play the full game on the live megaservers beginning on May 22 and will retain all progression when the game officially launches in June. In addition, all PC and Mac players will be able to download Update 14 containing the fixes and improvements to the base game patch and DLC game packs on May 22 as well.

Early Access is automatically available for players who purchase the Digital Upgrade or Digital Collector's Edition Upgrade versions of ESO: Morrowind for PC/Mac any time prior to launch. If you purchased the Physical Collector's Edition for PC, read on to see how you can join the Early Access event.

I voted no because a couple of reasons:

    1. june 6 is june 6, not suddenly may 22
    2. my CE copy isnt arriving till june 6 (with all extras) so whats the point in starting early?
    3. if you gonna give early acces, do it to all platforms

"No, consoles would have a disadvantage with the late start to the new trials, story and other content that may become spoiled for them"

    - people who dont be there at release would have the same disadvantage
    - people who dont rush would have the same disadvantage
    - immersion players would have the same disadvantage
    - new players to come would have the same disadvantage

... so, if you dont want to be spoiled, avoid spoilers, simply as that.

Beside: what disadvantage are we speaking of? PC and consoles are playing in different servers, we are not competing with each other.

    Nope, because...
    • PC players get a 2-week extra to get world first completions on the new trial (before you ask, yes, I am on PC, and I'd prefer a fair competition).
    • A lot of the feedback we gave are only coming this week, which means that any changes to the PTS that isn't already planned is most likely not going to reach live, simply because by the time we give our feedback, they won't actually have the time to take those into account.
    • PTS still has a pretty huge amount of bugs, so unless there's like 500 bug fixes coming this week, I don't see how that could be a good idea - in which case the early release will server as a "live beta server". I don't think I need to remind people of what happened during the launch of some DLCs that had *cough* slight issues *cough*

No, I don't like how they announced Morrowind would release at the same on all platforms for marketing reasons just to go back on their word.

Early Access means all of PC will download and apply the Base Game Morrowind patch come May 22nd. Also trial guilds on PC are now given two weeks ahead of console to complete Halls of Fabrication....

I would much rather the patch was held off for two weeks more and PTS provided extra testing while that two week period of console patch-approval passes.

They needed to do this before the changes they made to combat irrevocably overshadowed all the shiny stuff in the expansion. It's a smart move that might not have been necessary at all if not for the closed beta and NDA, but that ship sailed weeks ago.

It sucks for console players to have to wait longer, agree. Sony and Microsoft are inflexible monoliths, not that this surprises anybody.

I honestly don't care weither they do it or not. (Since I havn't pre ordered it, nor am I planing on doing it)

But at least now we all have the option to watch videos/streams from Morrowind.

Also people will have more time to come up with new builds for Morrowind, and that will be good for both PC and console players.

Though on the other hand it might cause some server overlaod, and the patch will most likely be a rushed mess. So there are both benefits and disadvantages for doing it

It's basically just the usual procedure for updates: PC gets it when ZOS thinks it's ready, consoles get it when Microsoft and Sony have checked it and approved it as safe to be installed.

But in this case I think given it's such a big update it would probably be beneficial to have the extra week to find and fix bugs, even if they can't release the fixes on console until the next update (because they'll have already submitted the update for approval and can't change it). Plus they advertised it originally as everyone starts on the same date and everyone seemed fine with that so I don't think there's any real benefit to releasing it early.

Start making room now. Whether you prebuy or never buy it, you are getting all the files on the 22nd. It will just be content you cant get to, but the files come anyway.

Yes, Early Access will allow Zenimax to adjust server load and performance more accurately than just with PTS
Here is what I don't understand... we do not have 'cross play' so it's not like XBOX competes against PC players, or PS competes against XBOX... it's PC against PC, XBOX against XBOX, and PS against PS. So there is absolutely NO competitive advantage for PC players against console players because they don't compete against each other in the first place.

Also, if players are worried about 'spoilers' then they can stay off the forums, reddit, youtube, etc. But in reality, any competitive player is going to be seeking out these 'spoilers' to see what builds are the most successful based upon PC experience.

The reason I'm saying no is because of the PTS. Most people defending the early release say it's better for console because certain bugs can be addressed before launch. However, that is the whole point of the PTS, which btw only exclusive to PC as well. The reason why most console users are angry is because not only do PC users get the full game early, but also a lot of PC users have already been playing Morrowind for a while now. If there was no PTS, then the fixing bugs claim could be valid.

Not to mention most active console users have to avoid the forums for the two weeks since every post is gonna be about Morrowind and possible spoilers :(

We were told Morrowind would be released "for everyone and on all platforms June 6th". Just more lies and marketing maneuvering to call this "early release". The release date was always going to be May 22nd with no additional PTS changes or feedback.

Consoles are and will always be the red headed step child of ESO platforms. Allow us account transfers as a service!

We usually get all the content in advance already, I do not see much of a difference.

If I would play in a console I would probably be pissed, but hasn't it been like this since the game started? They get the content after it gets released on PC.

My pick is due to not thinking of this. Since it takes much longer to get stuff out to consoles due to how things are, I hadn't considered they might want to see things live for a bit before hitting consoles. Because if something doesn't work, consoles might have to put up with it longer due to Sony and Microsoft. Just a thought I had when I saw the option. Really, I was surprised and happy about it. I think consoles already have enough draw backs (you're having to play on a console after all).
