How much of a difference will race choice make for magicka DPS now?

On live, Altmer and Dunmer are currently both optimal choices for endgame magicka DPS builds. Dunmer gets more damage out of fire, and even Templars and Nightblades use significant sources of fire damage. But Altmer also gets a small boost to fire damage, as well as slightly more magicka and sustain, with the result that both races end up as great choices for content like hard mode trials. I think it's great that more than one race is considered a perfectly good choice for endgame competitive DPS. Do you think this will change in Morrowind? Will Dunmer be edged out of competitive DPS? Is its inferior sustain enough to make a noticeable difference?

I myself haven't noticed that my Altmer has a particularly easy time sustaining on PTS -- I still have to stack regen sources. But I'm curious what others' experiences have been and what the community's outlook for Dunmer in U14 is.

I use altmer on all my mag chars now, because of that 9% regen. It does make a difference with 5 moondancer and other sources of regen. Especially on sorcs and nightblades regen is more effective due to their clays passives.

As for your question on race for mag DPS, Dunmer vs Altmer pretty sure it's like a 1-2% dps difference. Now from a stam based class to lets say dunmer, that's more like 8-10% more dps.

Altmer does have the 9% more regen, which when morrowind releases will be extremely nice. And probably will be better to role a altmer when creating a new char, but if you're up to debate of race changing to a altmer from a dunmer, I dont think it's that necessary.
