My Mom and Dad Play ESO Every day - help me design better builds for them!

Hey my dudes!
So, as the title describes, I need some help with re-designing my parents’ character builds.
First, here’s a little bit about their playstyles: (** FOR tl;dr SEE BOLD TEXT**)

My mom and dad are retired and recently (as of 2 years ago) they decided that they wanted to try video games. They were immediately addicted to skyrim, and later picked up ESO as a result. They play literally every day, and almost exclusively do content that can be completed with only 2 people. Too often have my parents tried to complete 4-man stuff like vet dungeons, etc, with randos only to have it result in either being quickly abandoned or insulted all the while… And even though they’ve improved dramatically since they began playing (about avg skill now), the pug experience has understandably left them wanting none of it. On the rare occasion that I can get online (I play Templar heals/off dps) to help them, just the 3 of us will run a few normal dungeons EZPZ and maybe try or finish a couple vet dungeons. They will almost certainly never run trials, etc.
My father wants to play a tank/dps assist while my mother wants to play dps sorc/off heals

Right now my father is currently using this old build I designed for him over a year ago:
*5 Hist Bark
*4 Alessia's Bulwark
*3 Endurance accessories

For him I’ve been thinking 5 Tavas and 5 Dragon with a Monster set for warhorn ult spam for buffs
I don’t remember exactly what his skill “rotation” is but I know he uses the generic stuff that you’ll see mentioned in most tank builds online.
On his back bar, he wants to have a 2h weapon for dps. He enjoys “beating the ***” out of enemies with the 2h skills when he doesn’t have to tank.
Ideally, he can have a sort of jack of all trades scenario, where he can quickly switch between decent tanking and decent dps – with tanking being prioritized.

My mother is also using an old build that I designed for her long ago:
*5 Julianos
*3 Willpower
*1 Kena Shoulder
*Seducer filling the gaps for sustain.

I honestly don’t know how to approach improving this build so any input is helpful!
She mostly just uses liquid lightning and blockade of fire (fire staff) paired with force pulse and c-frag to take down enemies. It seems to work well since just the 3 of us have many times out dps’d pug groups that I’ve played in.
On her back bar is a resto staff where I’ve placed her sorc buffs and staff heals (combat prayer/rapid regen). Most of the time, when it’s just the two of them, she is the only healer available so it’s important that, though she is primary dps, she can still heal with decent efficacy in sketchy scenarios.

All things considered, they play pretty damn well. But since the game has changed over the past months, there seems to be some better options for builds for them. I’m currently in graduate school so I simply don’t have the time or knowledgebase to design builds perfect for their scenario so I’m reaching out to you guys. Lemme know what you think! And thanks a whole lot.
Oh and if you see Jedimastermom or Samiamme running through Tamriel (undoubtedly together) please feel free to say hi and let ‘em know that there are nice people out there.

Great post, and hopefully your parents keep it up!

For your dad, I'd recommend against Tavas... it's only useful if you keep shuffle active, and that can be a little of a pain and a resource drain if you aren't too experienced. I'd recommend either a set like Ebon (which will make your mom a little less squishy) and/or a heavy armor DPS set, like seventh legion which will allow him to do a little more DPS (being a full tank in open world is a little annoying). Also, for monster helms, maybe tremorscale for DPS, engine gaurdian if resources are a problem (and they likely will be in morrowwind).

For your mom, Julianos and Willpower are great! I'd have her run a 2-piece monster helm too (monster helms are fun... even parents will like it). Maybe Illambirs or skoria, then a random sharpened lightning and a random resto on the back bar.

have you looked through any of alcast's or delta's builds? they invaluable to ppl that don't have the time to theorycraft themselves such as myself. http://alcasthq.com http://deltiasgaming.com
most of the builds are optimized to dps or tank but can be easily be altered to assist you guys.

This one here is bullet-proof, just keep your ward up basically.

Probably won't even need the backbar when playing with another person, or change backbar to heal the tank?

Great feedback! I honestly didn't know that shuffle was that difficult to keep up. I'll have to log on to his character and see if it's too much of a pain. Don't get me wrong, he's a competent player - especially now. But if a fight becomes too complicated, he can sometimes just start spamming his favorite abilities as an attempt to kill the bad thing as fast as possible.
Oh and it's good to know my mom's character is in a decent place already. For some reason, I hadn't thought about using a monster set with her. She'd probably really get a kick out of Skoria. They both really enjoy feeling like their characters are causing a giant ruckus.
PS: Love the name-theme you have goin' there. ;)

Sure. Although I seriously doubt they'll agree to it - they've already got plenty of kids/grandkids to worry about. Hahaha

I'd suggest necropotence/lich and a full-on pet build - matriarch for the heals, volatile for damage, hardened ward to keep them alive, the 2 ground target aoe's, crit-surge, deadric prey, force pulse... Lightning staff probably best.

I know lich is a dungeon set - perhaps they could work towards that.. Normal should be duo-able.. in the meantime, perhaps seducers instead? or Trinimacs, but with more heavy attacks to sustain..?

I don't know how old your mom an dad are (I'm 67).........have them google ( Antique Ordinatus Populus )........it's a guild for us older folks ! I joined over two years ago after running a few 4-man with the young crowd.....a couple times was enough to turn me off on all that stuff.

Now.....it's fun......none of us are very good.....we die, but we NEVER cry........ha!

We can help them build with out caring about all the BIS crap and running all the time.....we go slow, we talk, we enjoy.....and we get our fair share of Key's. (we also use mumble.....or not........).

This is so great. I love seeing these games span age gaps and cross generations. Good for them too for trying something new for fun. I know exactly what they get turned off from with rando groups and I'm probably half their age. I'd recommend that lich/necro build from above too. Very sustainable and with the pets active there is good damage mitigation from them distracting enemies as well as not a very complex rotation due to so many double barred or passive skills. I think the 2 or 3 of you could take on normal Crypt of Hearts pretty easily to farm for Lich. Good luck and have fun!

    For the DK

    I'd try blackrose(body) + 7th legion( jewelry + weapons)
    Monsterset: bloodspawn.
( or what ever will fit the needs)

Dmg on bosses with dots on the shield bar and heavy attacks.
For trash just swap to the two hander once 7th legion proccs and use the shield ability from the 2h and heavy attacks(since they can do aoe) till the first trash mob is in execute range, then use the finisher(ofc the one with aoe dmg)

Ulti for the twohander trash kill bar: dawnbreaker
For the shield bar for bosses standard of migth, or if *** goes serious korossive is always a life safer.

Healing via rally and vigor in combination with eruptive shield.

Just out of my head, maybe it works, maybe not.
But in theory it sounds great
