If you have it, why stop using it?
Generally sets in ESO has two problems, crafted sets has no jewelry on the other side its very hard to get weapons for dropped sets. for magic users its 5+5+1 where 1 is either weapon or an monster piece, or 5+4+2 with monster set.

I'm weirdly glad that we don't have jewelry crafting. I feel like we'd see the most cancerous builds ever if we did, followed by a tidal wave of nerfs

How? There aren't any crafted sets that really stand up to drop sets (maybe hundings/julianos, but that's just one set, so no need for jewelry anyway). Personally I don't really care weather or not they add jewelry crafting, but the argument against it definitely isn't that it will be OP.
