this is actually a good thing gankers need nerf too like everyone else

correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they remove the stun from stealth so ganker's were already nerfed?

I have the feeling bows auto firing is just going be straight out crap.

How does this work with MIATs PvP? Can I still start casting a heavy atk and then target a foe before it fires without giving myself away to cheating add-ons?

For those of you saying "who cares about the unique functionality of bow, just make it work the same as all other heavy attacks"... so then you would be okay with - for example - lightning staff HA be a projectile so DKs can reflect it? Afterall, that would make it "consistent", right?

Give bow users the choice to use the auto-fire or not.

Resto as well? Besides a heavy resto or lightening attack provides nowhere near the up front damage of a heavy bow opener and the skills you can line up essentially straight afterward.

I like the change. Why should a bow fire differently than a staff? A heavy attack from a staff works the same way.

Because ALL BOWS IN THIS WORLD have a way/system that you can use to HOLD your fire and staves do not?

Brilliant change - Now nightblades can be part of the bot farming crew too! Rubber-band that trigger! (By the way, the bots are already leaving Dolmens for other farming spots so I'm not confident the Dolmen "fix" will be as effective as hoped)

This change reminds me of the dismount change, where everyone on Console now involuntarily fires a shot at a friendly NPC whenever they need to get off their horse. It's just change for the sake of change, and offers almost nothing to improve the gaming experience. In fact, most archers draw the string, hold while aiming, then fire. Evidently that's too immersive for ESO.

The only people this will benifit are those terrible bow build lowbies spamming light attacks and heavy attacks with poison injection every 20 seconds... almost everyone that uses a bow uses it as a secondary weapon and won't be spamming bow heavy attacks anyway... all this does is nerf an already getting nerfed gankblades opening and opening attacks in general.

Not seeing this as a nerf. Good stuff to accommodate the change for heavy attacks across the board.

I've used the bow exclusively as my primary for nearly a year.

    Clearly, I'm not "almost everyone."

So does the bow on PTS now auto-fire heavy attacks continuously if you just hold down the button or do you have to press the button again after it auto-fires?

That will be a cheap and dumbed down change if it keeps firing from holding down the button.

I like the change. I use destruction staff and I don't have the ability to keep my heavy attack until I want because it triggers automatically. With this change to bow the heavy attack automatic fire is now a standard mechanic for all ranged weapon skill lines.

No, staves do not have that benefit. Heavy attacks fires automatically. I use staves on all my characters.

Consistency isn't always good. Staff already outdamages bows so taking away one of bows unique abilities is a bit ugh

ZOS seems to be unable to translate ideas into a concept called reality. Reality is broader than just using heavy attacks in a rotation. In PvP it is key for gank builds to have a pre-charged heavy attack ready for when you want to let loose. This is just another ridiculous change that hasn't been thought through from different perspectives.

By the way, it used to be like this at launch with bow heavies. Nobody complained when it got changed. This is yet another (indirect) nerf to nightblades. Gank builds in particular. Do you really want us to return to stacking proctard sets in order to gank?! *** hell.

    I tested it.
Blocking during the wind-up doesn't cancel the auto-fire.
Turning 180 degrees away from the target doesn't cancel the auto-fire. The arrow fires out of your back. :weary:
Not even pressing ESC stops the auto-fire.
That's right, once you start the heavy attack, you are locked in!
Really we do it without like, the musical instruments. This is the only musical: the mouth. And hopefully the brain attached to the mouth. Right? The brain, more important than the mouth, is the brain. The brain is much more important.

It's a nerf to pvp gankers, a buff for pve. I like it.
Bows automatically firing is going to mess up PvE players, too. :/

On a serious note, this change to Bow's heavy attack has me wondering if they have something else in store for the other weapons? We have at least one more patch before the official Morrowind release, right?

ZOS, please, at the very least allow us to cancel the attack by blocking!

Now I am wondering if abilities even cancel the wind up. So I am assuming I could just hold the trigger for my bow and let it automatically fire heavy attacks while just pressing my ability buttons along with it.
