Magicka Dragonknight/Nightblade/Warden Templar PvE DPS - Why take these over a Magicka Sorc?

I cannot understand ZOS's vision here. Perhaps someone can enlighten me....

A bit of background:
I have been a Magicka Sorc since (console) launch. I run endgame trials all the time and have beaten vMoL HM many times now. On top of this, I have pulled off all of the huge DPS numbers people love to brag about.

I know exactly how strong each class is in terms of DPS...... and so do other top raiders. This is why we bring around 6 Magicka Sorcerer DPS every run and 0 Magicka Nightblades, with either 0-1 Magicka Templars and 1-2 Magicka DKs. Based on PTS, we would bring 0 Magicka Wardens.

After reading the most recent PTS patch notes that released today, it is becoming clearer now that ZOS feels they are pretty much finished with balancing. We saw very few changes this time around (13% Twisting Path damage xD).

Will it be viable next patch to have diversity amongst Magicka DDs? Or will we see what we saw last patch where Mag Sorc reined blatantly supreme, though a bit to a larger degree now?

Don't tease my fellow MagBlade's who haven't read the Patch Notes yet. The buff to Twisting Path was only 11%, not 13%. Of course, this just helps offset the nerf to BSW that most of us wear. :'(

I think if they fix Silks of the Sun like the other sets, Mag DK could pull pretty good numbers still, the issue will be the melee range.

In fights where pets work Sorc's will be the uncontested champs for sure, because Necropotence is now far and away the best magicka DD set, and basically only works for sorcs (you can run shades as a nightblade, but the skill itself does terrible damage, vs familiar which is nuts, so will just be flat worse).

So in a fight where pets don't work, and melee range is fine, if they fix silks, DK might come close to sorc.

Otherwise no, and NB / Templar / Warden have almost no chance.

That's great and all, but this thread is about the severe lack of balance in Morrowind (and also in Homestead) in terms of which classes deal the most DPS.

We can all run around happy spamming Bow light attacks if we want, but it won't balance the game. Eventually you want to run Vet trials to get good scores and be respectful to teammates by not purposely pulling garbage DPS.

I will also level up my Magicka Warden and enjoy it, but it seems I will need to pull out my typical Magicka Sorc to be competitive. Pulling 15K less single target DPS and even less AoE DPS (yep, it's that huge) due to choosing the "wrong" class is insane.

If anyone thinks sorcs or necro set are not getting nerfed then they need to wake up. Their time is coming unfortunately.

I said the same thing. Not so sure anymore. ZOS sure is taking their time and NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THEIR PLAYERBASE

That was a looong time ago. And the proposed nerf was not like this.

It's whatever though. They essentially lowered Magicka DPS which helps out Stamina DPS, though it has come at a time where the strongest DPS (Mag Sorc) isn't really hurt by this.

Burning Spellweave will still be BiS for Magicka DPS so nothing really changed. Now Magicka Sorc itself needs to be brought down already, preferably through reducing the pulses/damage done by Volatile Familiar. We could also just bring up other classes to the Mag Sorcs level..... but you know, ZOS will never do that :disappointed:

Nerfing Necropotence is something I'd hesitate to do. It is used as BiS for Mag Warden rn (worst DPS) and could be used on Magicka NB (2nd worst DPS).

Vaoh, you have a great point, but apparently the devs are set in their ways. The huge, massive outcry for a sorc dps nerf has gone by without a single change. Sure, the devs give the sorcs micronerfs every patch, like the 10 % decrease in frag damage and the recent 0.2 sec nerf to dark deal, but these are microscopic, and will only affect PvP very little, while practically not affecting PvE at all.

And for those of us who made a fuss about it and adressed the issue, we pretty much got told that ZOS has heard us but don't really care/agree, and that ZOS thinks all classes are viable in endgame DPS, which is blatantly wrong, as your experience also tells you, and which has been proved in raw numbers time and time again.

As someone who tries to participate in engame PvE on a non-sorc DPS (or hells, PvP as well), the frustration is palpable.

It's so frustrating. I wouldn't even be mad if the DPS difference existed and I was naturally a few thousand DPS weaker than another class.

Magicka Sorc is comparatively insane rn to others. I'm trying to transition from my Mag Sorc main to a new Magicka Warden main. How do I cope with dealing around 15K less DPS?? It is horrificly imbalanced. This will not be even remotely viable in endgame PvE unless you want to troll your raid team or get kicked!

It's an endgame problem. If you're running around questing, completing your Undaunted pledges, etc, you won't have any issues.

Endgame PvE has been quite imbalanced since Homestead, and Morrowind isn't fixing it judging by the first three versions of Morrowind PTS. Kinda why you see lots of threads about it and Sorcs dominate the leaderboards.

Morrowind goes live in 30 days. I imagine they are nearly done with sweeping balance changes. You really think there will be some major nerf to sorcs before then?

No, I don't think there will.

ZOS is full of surprises so maybe we'll see some nerfs. Can't guarantee it'll be towards Sorcs though :o
