I have been using reshade for a while but the thing I can't get working is depth of field. It always flickers on and off whenever I move. Does anyone know a fix for this?
Is dof flickering in general or sometimes only? If flickering happens in instanced locations where are no players around, it could be just dof setted wrong, like auto mode turned on with focus point located 0.5-0.5 by default instead of your character position (if you want char centered dof) and so on. I would recommend to go with manual depth and MatsoDOF, right now I'm using smth like this and turn it on and off by pressing a setted key, so I could have all the reshade glory for screenshots and no flickering during gameplay.
Bokeh dof also works this way with some settings adjustments.
My dof setting for reshade version 3.0.6+ below:
More screens with this dof can be found on my tumblr.
If you know how to tweak reshade and set dof correctly, got it working like a charm in instanced locations but found it flickering in populated areas - unfortunately there is no fix, since it't not exactly a bug, but more of a code feature in online games. So when reshade detects another active player nearby, this flickering happens. As I've understood from Reshade forum, all depth buffer based feathures like DOF, SSAO and so on are not suited for online gaming, meaning - they could have worked, but then it could be considered a sort of a cheating. Not that you would want to go into Cyro with max game settings + reshade ssao + bokeh dof at max anyway (when fps is jumping like crazy even in vanilla game), but with just the right settings some advantage could be achieved otherwise.
The other question though - why we don't have ingame dof option? Outside of a dialog, I mean. With lods like these...
Thanks I'll try this out as soon as I can. As you said in populated areas like cities it flickers on and off, now I know why. I wish this was a part of the vanilla game but I don't see it being added as this game is missing far more important features
