My very first master writ and...

It's style is order of the hour... Thought I could pick up the staff chapter motif cheap and the lowest I've found on Xbox is 23k gold... Guess I'll be passing on these 2 writ vouchers. So are all master writs these hard to find style motifs (trial drop) or expensive 20k+? Or was that just bad luck?

The style on the master writ is totally random, you have as much chance of getting an orc style as Order of the hour.
If you can't afford them, my suggestion would be to find someone you trust that know all style motifs (a guild crafter for example), save up your writs to you have enough in vouchers for the items you want, then ask the crafter to fill the writs and get the item you want with the vouchers. Make sure you have all the mats required though...and don't forget to tip the helpful crafter ;)
Alternatively you could sell the writs and buy the items you want from the guild shops.

@Synfaer How much do the writs go for good wise? And can you still sell it after youve opened it? Great advice though thank you

If you turn down the quest when its offered the writ will appear in your inventory and you can sell it (or activate it at a later date for the quest). If you accepted the quest when you received the writ and it is in your quest log, you cannot get it back and all you can do is complete it or delete it.
As to the selling price; on PC they range from 1000 to 1500 per writ voucher (so a master writ worth 10 vouchers sells for about 10 - 15k). Unfortunatey I do not know what the going rate is on XBOX but most goods are generally higher priced.

Figure on 1K to 2K per Voucher for the Writ. I discount those writs that spend a ton of mats, like the ones to make Orozagas Haunch or something like that. It takes two Perfect Roe, so I flip that one for 8K not 15K as it could get.

Don't accept the quest when opening the Crafting Writ Reward Container, just choose goodbye. Then the Writ is dropped into your Consumables and you can look at it later on and see what it needs. Then you can decide to sell it or take it on. Once you accept it, it is moved to your Journal as a quest and hence, can not be sold as the Writ is gone in that case.

You have 3 things to look out for, the Motif, as you have figured out, then the Special Crafting Station and how many traits you need to know to make the item. Finally, the writs that tend to pay the most vouchers require Gold Tempers to complete. Make sure you are prepared to give up your precious gold tempers for a Master Writ.

So where is the armor master writ at? Someone told me imperial city so ok like where at? Is it one of those dumb 50 or 75 stone whatever things to get through a locked door?

Don't need any keys or frags, it is in the memorial district of IC, right at the north of the IC map. You just have to get past the NPC's and/or any PVP characters that might be hanging around IC. Getting out is a bummer though unless you simply join to another campaign once you have made the gear.

I got my attunable crafting stations tuned to that set to save me travelling there :D

I have been chasing Master Writs ever since the 2nd Anniversary introduced them to me.

If I do not have the trait, I will go out and buy it.

This works most of the time.

However the need to go to Imperial City (PvP just say no) and to craft a Draugr Maul (Rare!) is still sitting in the Bank.
    If anyone wants it !

Getting out is easy, just pop into ICP next door and back out again. You drop out of PvP and back to wherever you were when you entered the campaign.

    @Malborn66

I avoided the IC for the longest time and hence dreaded the Master Writ that sent me up there. However I found out that there are places in the IC sewers where you can take a ladder directly up to the district that has the crafting station. So you can avoid PvP. And, even if you do get ganked, just res in place and keep going. The Crafting stations are close to the district entrances. Sneaking helps too.

I list 2-voucher writs on Xbox for 6-7k ea. They don't sell quickly, but they do sell.

you're sure? any other dungeon you enter through the door will place you..in front of its door when you go back out.
But you're 100% able to fast travel to a friend, guildie or another wayshrine when you're inside..

Yep. Once you're in the dungeon you're back in a PvE area and it seems the only way to get to PvP is through your menu (Campaign / Activity Finder).

What I don't get and or like is how a master writ says I need a lower lvl solvent or poison to make something and since I'm over 500CP it's hard to get those since the only way to get that stuff is from I'm guessing alchemy dailies buying from guild vendors>.> or lvling up a lower lv alt which takes time. There should be a vendor that sells lower lvl stuff. Whats the point now of a 10-20 lvl zone if everything is the same lvl?
