I finally gave in to the power of the Dark Side, and it feels great...

I bought this game at launch, and have stubbornly worn 5 pieces of Light Armor no matter what...up until today.

Today, I finally gave in to what so many others have said and made readily apparent; Heavy Armor is currently this games meta armor...

So, I went down into the Sewers and spent some of my hard earned Tel Var on 5 Pieces of Reactive Armor...

O...
M...
G...

The difference in overall power is astonishing compared to Light Armor; I am still in shock over how much more powerful my character is now...

I have better sustain...

I have far, far, better damage soak; it feels good to be able to be right in the middle of battle and be able to not only survive, but be able to kill as well...

And I got that without giving up much in the way of damage (what I had to give up is very little compared to what I gained)...

So I made this post to say this:

Light Armor absolutely needs to be buffed because as it currently stands, there is NO REASON to wear Light Armor in Cyrodiil...

By wearing 5 pieces of Light all you are doing is activating Hard Mode for yourself...

What Light Armor gives may look good on paper, but in actual practice, its nothing compared to what Heavy gives you...

That is all...

Thanks for reading this...

Yes, even after next patch I think they still need a slight buff to bring them up to the level of heavy.

I'd suggest add spell damage buff to the light armor passive, add physical penetration to med passive, and require full 5 piece set of light or medium to use harness magicka or shuffle.

I'm a magicka DK who wears heavy armor. I do great. No magicka sustain problems at all, because of how I did the rest of my build (at least until the Nerfapocalypse happens).
If I start having some problems after the Nerf of Doom, then I might change over to light, or add some light pieces.
    Or not.

Yep and it works very well...

When I was in 5 light (along with 1 medium and 1 Heavy), I had the triple stat glyphs in my armor; there is no longer a need to do that with the Reactive Armor...

The Heavy passives take care of my Health needs, I have straight Magicka glyphs in the Reactive Armor now, and the armor bonus's give me a nice boost to Stamina...

The net result is better stats as a whole for my Magicka Templar despite wearing armor that has stats that favor a Stamina build...

If you dont believe it works, give it a try...

I assure you the results will be favorable...

Healer wearing 5pc reactive and 5pc spell power cure checking in.

When I made the jump to 5 heavy it was like night and day. I'm essentially unstoppable in Cyrodiil.

Until I fight the loading screen boss, that is.

I'd have expected losing your five piece light armor bonuses would cripple a Magicka build. Is it really overall better to wear heavy? Like instead of Light, craft Julianos in Heavy?

What this means is that light armor does not need a buff, but that heavy armor needs a nerf and it is coming. However I've seen a Templar tank 10 played in light armor so it's definitely viable. If light armor were to get a buff it would make mag sorcs even more op than they are now. In my mind, like any good ol RPG, is that certain classes would have bonuses or restrictions on what armor they can wear.

The fifth Item bonus on Reactive doesn't have a magica set counterpart. The only bonus on the set that is worthless for a mag character is the stam recovery. It certainly doesn't hurt to have a bit more max stam and health in PvP. And that 35% damage reduction when effected by any CC is awesome. I used that set with transmutation and it took massive burst to bring me down but my dps was so low I could only kill newbs so it got boring quick.

I disagree with the idea of having to use 5pc to use harness. My Magicka sap tank uses harness for PvE while wearing heavy armor. Why make it a requirement for NB,DK,Temp and the (coming soon) Warden to use light armor inorder to get a damage shield? I don't wanna turn this into a nerf thread but there's nothing wrong with harness by itself, it's when it's stacked with another powerful Magicka based damage shield that it becomes a problem. I'm talking what's on the pts btw, on live it's not so bad.

Random forum people, last week: "You can't use heavy armor if you play magicka! You won't get any sustain! Always use light!"
Random forum people today, after learning that heavy armor is totally useable for magicka toons: "NERF HEAVY ARMOR!!!"

It's because Reactive is such a huge carry set. Oh, you didn't manage your stamina? No prob, get CC'd and take reduced damage. Reward for no reason.

Its funny that you still get white knight forum warriors who deny heavy is OP and is the current meta.

Everytime i see them i always think, really? Anyone with half a brain who has spent an hour in pvp in the last 9 months knows how grossly OP heavy is.

Everything but a mag sorc and maybe mag nb is better in heavy.

And in duels heavy is very good for both of them.
