Or a custom costume system where you buy a token (probably from the crown store, but at this point I wouldnt mind)
Take said token to a crafting station and then whatever you're wearing (except weapons) gets made into a costume that you can wear

So the achievement for completing a motif set would reward players with a costume of that style... I really like this suggestion. This would allow us freedom of style, keep motif chapters valuable, and it wouldn't undercut the crown store.
How would the costume determine if you wanted light, medium, or heavy? Would you get all three as part of the reward?
If you learn a full book of a style you should get that as a costume. Saw a picture of celestial style on Facebook and a friend was like this looks really cool. It does look great however crafted gear isn't all that good. I would love to run my set up maybe with monster helms or not but not have mixed matched gear. I want to look good killing people. This would also act a transmogrification.

It's a great idea for players but from Zeni's business end, wouldn't that ruin chances for selling base assets as costumes in the crown store?

It doesnt really do anything for me. I admittedly wear mostly dropped sets, but even on the occasion where I want to wear crafted stuff, I am still forced to mix and match with dropped stuff, and it always looks terrible. I have a beautiful set of Heavy Seducer in Ebony. It looks so good until I pair it with a monster set...
(Sidebar: please make monster sets match other sets when they are dyed)
Not only would this increase the desire for motifs in game (a good thing for sure as they drop from all over the place), but it would also make people want to buy motifs in the crown store. I avoided the crown store exclusive motifs intentionally, but I probably would have bought them if I could make a costume.
The only downside is that it could potentially hurt costume sales, but if it boosts motif sales in the meantime, I dont see the big deal. Cool and unique costumes will still sell. There would also be a lot more diversity just walking around the streets of deshaan, which would be pretty nice to see.

I love this idea.
Quick question. The costume, would it be a one piece? Or are you thinking multiple pieces?

People have tons of motifs, tons of people want to USE motifs, and now they're even selling exclusive motifs for real money... and there's largely no way to use them either than crafting vanity sets to wear around town.
People have been asking for this for years, many going so far as to say they'd PAY for a recrafting system, a motif conversion system, a polymorph system, etc... nothing. We get nothing.
But hey, those new crown store items sure never miss a release date
