New and Improved: multi-character perspective on morrowind patch notes

TL;DR version - when i was initially writing this out i wasn't exactly sure what i was trying to say...i re-read through what i wrote - and, it was pretty rambling :)

here it is then - as a primary pvp player whom regularly plays all the classes - the morrowind patch is really only annoying, but it doesn't really "mess" up my game...i seldom do pve "end game" content, so, i won't be affected to hard by the changes from that...

so, going through the latest natch potes, and, was drawn to some specific changes:

Piercing Javelin: Increased the knockback range of this ability and its morphs to 8 meters from 5 meters.

Developer Comments:
Increasing the knockback distance of these abilities gives them a stronger niche from other crowd control abilities, and also opens up more opportunities for using that knockback with deadly results in areas with treacherous terrain (such as Battlegrounds).

oh yeah baby - well, just so happens i got a couple of templars - time to really send folks flying :)

then i few line later read this:

Destruction Staff
Tri Focus: This passive’s splash damage with Lightning Staves is no longer increased by damage modifiers.

Developer Comments:
Area of Effect damage with Lightning Staff Heavy Attacks is currently too high, due to how the splash damage from Tri Focus “double dips” in damage modifiers; the damage modifier would first multiply the Heavy Attack damage, then also multiply the Tri Focus splash damage. This resulted in the splash damage being higher than the damage on the initial target, instead of the intended 100%.

well, that sucks...i kinda liked using wall of elements in delves...helps clear out the trash fast...

basically, playing 2 versions of each class leaves me with an odd feeling since i don't really have a favorite class/resource pool focus...

i do appreciate the fact that these changes will make end content a good bit more challenging to folks...to be honest though - as a primary pvper - as long as my enemies are dealing with the same changes as myself...it just comes down to which players adapt the best...which seems okay...

what's a nerf to one character - is actually a buff to my other characters...

the overwhelming feeling i have now...

Edit: sans the happy buzz from the white russian, cuz of being at work presently and all...

normally i'm pretty content to just say my piece and be done with it...

but, i don't really have the chance to communicate much with players whom actively play multiple characters from all four classes...

if you just so happen to fit that description - i'm definitely curious to hear how you're viewing all these morrowind patch updates, and, the substantial nerfs to different class abilities......

@KingWhyteboi ...thanks for kicking in :)

sounds like you focus on one character at a time...which is amazing considering you have 12 different characters...i imagine it must be quite the challenge to jump into a character after not having played them for a month or so...

i'm gonna guess you'll probably be adding a couple of more to your collection in another month or so...any favorites?

in light of the overwhelming response from the earlier question of how do those whom regularly play all the classes in a pvp environment feel about the numerous class nerfs -

i'm also wondering – just how many different characters/classes do you play in a week…I don’t mean doing writs and moving items amongst characters…

how many different classes/characters do you play in an average week?

i have a total of 8 different characters (all different races, magicka/stamina versions of each class)…each week I’ll normally play about 5 or 6 of them for an average of around 3 hours or so…

i'm starting to get the impression that this isn't that normal a playstyle...just curious about how other people in a similiar situation approach the game...

that's cool they way you have it set up - like picking a certain tool from the tool chest to get the job done :)

your situation sounds a little different though in that you in fact are involved with "end game" pve content...although, i have a funny feeling you'll simply adapt come morrowind...

within those templars and nightblades - do the characters themselves vary greatly - different gear, utilize different abilities?

the morrowind patch will be a bit of an annoyance (trade off being i get to explore some new places and pick up some new gear)...

however, since i don't really "end game" pve; and my pvp experience involves playing all versions of the different classes frequently - the feeling i now have regarding the upcoming changes:

i'm just not sure how many others are in a similar position to have the same perspective...

I have 12 characters. I mostly pvp with the occasional dungeon run with friends when looking for gear. Of the 12 I regularly use 6 to pvp. Of those characters I have a stamina DK and magicka DK, a stamina and magicka sorc, a magicka NB and a magicaka templar. The rest either are low level, not geared for pvp or the wrong faction.

Who I chose to play depends on what is going on in the campaign, if i'm solo or with a group and if I am in a group what is most helpful. It also depends on what I feel like doing.

I'm not worried about the changes.

i know this'll sound a little dramatic - but, thank you so much for responding @Osteos ...this is the exact question which i have had in my mind for months:

Who I chose to play depends on what is going on in the campaign, if i'm solo or with a group and if I am in a group what is most helpful. It also depends on what I feel like doing.

i just couldn't figure out a way to ask it, or bring up the topic...

after switching characters - how long do you feel like it takes you to get that new character you're playing functioning properly in pvp?

@geonsocal It will be an annoyance, all of our endgame pve gear setups and pvp setups will need adjusting on each character from a DPS perspective. Tanking perspective I'll go out on a limb and say all you'd need is to balance max stats accordingly as a DK and healers just gotta go full sustain mode while using spc. I can't wait for PVP; less heavy armour builds with infinite sustain and crazy damage, specifically can't wait for sNB/sDK/sWarden/mSorc/mTemp. As for PVE though I don't know what to say really. They are keen on making it more utility/sustain/mechanics based which is good..but I like how pve is on live, very fast paced and you feel OP with bis gear/rotations(duh), feel bad for the newer players trying to join in on vet dlc dungeons(VMazzatun rip)/vtrials.

I'd like Templars to get major mending somehow. NBs..everything been talked about them already in terms of pve they just won't cut it(Especially Stam). For DK it's very polarizing without PTS access, I feel like if you can sustain on a DK you will be perfectly fine. All you'd need is to have CC control throughout the fight and igneous into dodgeroll/vigor/rally heals to get that major mending up(Remember DK is the only class that can get major mending whenever they feel like it through their class). As for magDK your shields would be bigger? Enough to get off one coagulating. Nothing to say about Sorcerers, they are at their final form and just wish Zos could get these other classes to that point.

TL;DR If you aren't a duddeee you won't free yourself from next patch. a gnarly ride 4sho

i have to be honest, I've been on the forums for about a year, I play the game way too damn much - but, @FlyLionel, I honestly don't have near the grasp on the mechanics and most importantly the synergy components which make up an entire build...

a lot of the super detailed stuff yourself and others mention - goes right over my head...

hmmmm, sorta feeling like this now:

"intentional" ignorance is bliss i guess...

thought for a second you might just be making words up there, had to look that one up :)
    What Does Duddee Mean?
A very spiritual person who often relies on intuition for decision making.

Your mind is rich and deep, but often closed for other people. You sometimes need seclusion in order to gain clarity about what is going on in your life.

This however does not make you a person that is hard to get along with.

On the contrary you have many talents and can always tell what others are feeling. In love and relationships you tend to be very passionate.

@geonsocal It depends on the character. I think the hardest for me is the magicka nightblade. Its playstyle is so much different from the others. Dragonknight is the easiest for me. Its the class I started out as and my favorite. Onistka has been a magicka dk, a stamina dk and a tank throughout her lifetime. Currently she is a stamina dk though personally I think magicka is more fun overall. A front line fighter good damage and survivability, I help to push the enemy back. Karietta my magicka nightblade is so delicate in comparison. Sneaking around picking targets of oppurtunity. Burning enemy camps and killing reinforcements.
