I have always had an issue understanding the "gear path" for this game. I play a magplar and I have julianos, altercation mastery, and the ice heart monster set. What are the next steps for me? IA/moondancer from normal trials, then vet mode, done?
I believe BiS for magplars is 5 BSW/5 Moondancer/Grothdar. Moondancer sharpened swords are extremely rare so some people settle for Willpower swords.
My current setup is 5 Julianos/5 BSW/Grothdar and it works pretty well for me. Going the IA/Moondancer with Willpower swords route is likely better because I'm missing out on Minor Slayer, but I do get an extra 5-piece bonus and I didn't have to fork out a ridiculous amount of gold for sharpened Willpower swords.
As for your next step, that's up to you. If you plan to compete for leaderboard spots then trials would naturally be the next step, but if dungeons are more your thing then BiS isn't really needed.
There isn't really a "gear path" in this game like there are in other MMO's where you get your current best gear from a dunneon, then hard mode dungeon, then trial, then vet trial. You can get the same drops out of normal trials that you would on vet, and the same goes for dungeons. Furthermore, trials gear barely started out doing crafted gear recently. Burning spelweave is BiS, and can be farmed solo on normal city of ash. Moon dancer can just be farmed by a chest glitch exploit they didn't bother fixing because it can be farmed on normal in MoL as well.
