Americans are overly sensitive, arrogant, and highly demanding. We also like to send threats and scream and act like violent children. Europeans are typically more measured.
If I was them, I'd prefer making the EU guys mad over us Americans.

Yes...and that's the way it should be; all of the decent games come from the U.S.A. anyway. Sure other countries can claim a game or two as a success, but most of the top tier western games that most players play are U.S. created games.
So don't complain about downtime if it interferes with your prime time gaming. Maybe if your country/region made a top tier game, the U.S. prime time would suffer...but that's unlikely, LOL.0 -

i've been going through the Dragon Age games again, building settlements in Fallout 4 and am looking forward to alpha 16 in 7 Days to Die myself

No-one should get used to accepting or paying for incompetent behavior or even encouraging it. Some peoples standards are just inherently lower than others though.

Would it not be logical to start maintenance some time during night on EU server to make sure it is finished by the time EU players come home from school/work? Yes, it may inconvenience some ZOS employees but better few dozen inconvenienced ZOS employees than entire EU playerbase, wouldn't you agree ?
After all, ZoS employees are paid for their work and customer should always come first, or so they say in NA.3 -
