Noob resurrect question

Poked my nose into a dungeon the other day for funsies and noticed I can't revive/resurrect while the fight is still going on. Ok, fair enough, no zerging 
but I guess my question is why would I spend (Lord tree) CP making my resurrection skills better if we aren't fighting when I revive anyway?
