Veteran Maelstorm Arena - Stamina Nightblade

Hey all! Thanks for reading.

Tonight I completed normal MA. It took me time to learn my class and to get the gear I wanted.

I know finishing it in normal is not a big deal, however I am proud of achieving that. I have been playing for almost a year, but I always focused on questing / exploring, until recently. I have finished all veteran dungeons, trials (in normal), I do some PVP... I just say this to clarify that I know my class and I know what I am doing, however, I will be facing the hardest solo challenge of the game and I was hoping for some advice.

I have already checked builds, but I am here to ask to all the Stamina Nightblades for advice. I would like to finish the arena before June (Morrowind will bring a bit of a sustain issue so I would like to finish it by then).

That's what I currently have equipped:

x2 Velidreth (both divines, still epic)
x5 Hundings rage (all legendary, all divines)
x3 Agility jewels (epic)
x2 Gladiator weapons (bow and 2 daggers, all sharpened). Bow is legendary, daggers still epic. (I am aware this is not an incredible set, but even though I have other weapons, for some reason I cannot understand, this little extra crit I get from this strange set makes it worth it).

(Note: I will upgrade all my gear to legendary)

I use the thief, all my attributes in stamina, nothing really out of the normal builds.

At the moment I have:

Bow bar: Rearming trap / Endless Hail / Poison Injection / Caltrops / Vigor
Daggers bar: Rending Slashes / Whirling blades / Relentless focus / Surprise attack / Assasin`s blade

I have 600 cp and my cp are all focused to increase dps (I followed one of Deltia's guide (he'll be missed!!))

My dps in single target varies from 20k - 22k (I never achieved more than that). In AOE it can get crazy though, the highest I have seen is 80k.

That's pretty much all I have.

I appreciate any insights you might have for me. Like I said, I will obviously check guides and builds, but I would like to hear your experiencies, from everyone.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, I really cannot wait to beat this challenge!!

I couldn't tell you about the best gear setup, but what I can tell you a lot of people choose to ignore and suffer for it.

    Pay. Attention. To. Mechanics.

That right there is the number one thing you need to clear vMA. No amount of CP, skill points, passives, legendary gear or combination of sets will make it any easier really. If you dont know the mechanics you will surely die.... a lot...

Unlike pvp you can just memories the spawn points, save ulti and burst down before they react. Same place same triggers.

This recent update has made me sad. Sad for the game. Sad for the community. Sad to pay whatever it is now. I want the previous eso back.

Your best bet for beating vMA is VO, if you have finished all normal trials, you should go again and farm VO, your setup should be:

    5 VO pieces (3 jewelry, 2 body).
5 HR/NMG (the later is the best) (3 body, 2 sharp daggers).
    2 Velidreth.
    1 random sharpened bow.

All gear could be purple, but the daggers should be gold.

About the skills, my bars for stamblade in vMA are:

DW: Soul harvest, surprise attack, rendering slashes/deadly cloak, resolving vigor, killer's blade, steel tornado.

Bow: Ballista, rearming trap, endless hail, poison injection, relentless focus, and a flex spot.

For the flex spot I recommend siphoning attacks, once you feel more comfortable you can swap this for caltrops.

You are going to suffer, A LOT, don't get insane.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Probably want to switch off rending slashes for siphoning strikes for sustain and switch whirling blades to the other morph (steal tornado).

Also, as a general rule, upgrade your weapons to legendary before upgrading the armor, gear is fine otherwise.

Also, you can switch in between max health/stam rec food, max health/max stam food or dubious depending on your personal preferences.

Make sure you have alchemy leveled up for that 100% uptime on weapon power/crit pots.

Stamnb is one of the hardest class to learn how to do VMA on but once you done it is one of the best classes for it. You should watch many videos that help explain the mechanics of each round. You gear is fine personally I saw front bar Vigor since its your only heal use blood throat for another HOT I dont really use steel nado but thats up to you also shuffle is really helpful.

Your gear is fine gold weapons will give you more damage.Fr fr Damage doesn't matter in there other than in round 6 and last platform of round 5.Just take your time and don't get frustrated and take your time.

For dual wield it's important to have 2 daggers and you only have to gold one dagger if you're poor.

Why one? The offhand dagger difference between purple and gold is about 30 WD I checked the other day.
Make sure mainhand and bow are gold.

I got really motivated but the second one destroyed me hahaha Obviously, I was not aware of the mechanics. Thank you for your advice

Actually my character is pretty fast, I don't generally have problems with speed but I suffered from it during the last boss in normal so I will craft some just in case I will need them, thank you!

I actually have a full set of VO gear, but you know what? My damage is worse when I use it because my weapons are precise, not sharpened :disappointed: I though the crit would balance it but no... I cannot achieve the same amount of dps with VO which sucks. I run weekly trials with my guildies, hopefully sharpened weapons will drop.

Might be faster to reroll a stam sorc and farm VO.

    Gl tho Cheers!

Outside of complete knowledge of mechanics and spawns this is ur best tip.
U want to look through guides, watch videos, and do a lot of practice.
The sustain from vo is not needed but its night and day if u have it. Stamsorcs crit surge means all u gotta do is keep hurricane and crit surge up for heals, anything else will outheal everything but 1 shot mechanics, this is a huge buff over any other class who has to stop dps to heal. Not needed, but ez mode like u wouldnt believe.

Knowing mechanics is paramount. U need to know them in order to win, u cant muscle through it. Knowing spawns means u r laying down ground aoe and therein doing dmg before they spawn fully.

Pick up sigils. The hardest issue i personally had was getting over myself and grabbing these. Picking one up is less points lost then a death and could easily cheese some of the fights if the right sigil is picked up at the right time

I cleared it with a similar setup, but I didn't have Veli for my head and shoulder. Instead, used two more pieces of gladiator's.

You'll want to make sure vigor never stops running for sure. Nightblades feel a little bit squishier than other classes, and I can never explain why. I run it front bar, but some have better luck (read:lag).

Switch whirling blades in for steel tornado, it'll help a ton because of how far it can reach without endangering you.

Otherwise, just keep at it! Total faith that you will clear it before June :)
