Nord 6% damage mitigation any useful? (PvP)

Hey guys,

why is every1 saying, this passive is useless?

I mean, 8% more dmg is "super useful", but taking 6% less DMG useless?

The reason I ask is that I plan a Nord mag nightblade with focusing on DMG mitigation (fear 15%,cloak 8%, Nord 6%).

So why is it actually bad?

I mean 6% less DMG is somewhat like 3,5k resists to both?

It is not bad at all, there are just other racial passives more appealing to damage dealers.

Furthermore, 98% of forum posters have never really tested anything themselves but just repeat what they heard from their friends or someone on reddit/YouTube/forums.

It applies after your armour reduction. so you dont see a full 6% reduction ever.

if you are capped at 50%, then you reduce damage by 50% if they have no penetration, then its 6% of the remaining damage that is left over, which is a lot less than 6% of original damage.

Thx, now I get why its called bad..sadly..

Cuz I dont want to start another thread:

Is there a cap for critical resit? I thought I read somewhere its capped at 3300, even if it would mitigate more crit DMG cuz of crit DMG modifiers, it just cant get above? Any1 knows that?

The greatest tank I know is such.

Might work well with werewolf nightblade instead of magicka. Sounds like you have interesting idea so I say try it.

What the hell is "full 6% reduction"? You still receive 6% less damage than someone who doesn't have this trait
If it worked additively with armor reduction then it would block more than 6%, up to 12% at 50% armor mitigation.

What i mean here is its not 6% of original damage, but 6% of remaining damage after reduction from armour.

ie like an attack that does 1000 dmg, (6% would be 60 reduction). However, if say he has 50% resist, the original damage would be reduced to 500, then its 6% of that 500, which is 30 (not 60). So with the origianl damage of 1000, damage taken would now be 1000-500-30=470 (not 1000-500-60=440). In real terms you see a 3% reduction from the original attack.

Now we have to consider if PvP as he says, players have penetration, so basically the less armour you have the better the passive is.

Nords and Bretons are the only two races whose passives are subject to diminishing returns.

Meanwhile, the other classes's passives get better the more damage and regeneration they have.
Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

Again, as it's been suggested in another topic, it would be great to have a proper manual (always updated) in which these formulas are described so calculations could be made to lessen the guesswork. Ok, one can always get out and test but it's fairly inaccurate and a lot of time to spend metagaming.
Thanks for all the info here, these are priceless in lack of official manuals!

Taking 8% less damage isn't "super useful". Problem with nords is they have the worst of any race. The 6% dr is essentially the only thing they have so argonian or imperial make better choices.
