Has anyone else seen a new PnP RPG called Shattered Dawn yet? Most likely not.

Shattered Tabletop Games has taken a lot of liberties with the ESO concept. Don't know how that works but Zenimax or Bethesda may want to take a looky-loo at it.

In their Kickstarter video one shot has a guy just standing there, shirtless. And at the end the presenter does a Dab.

I was meaning their "we have 3 'stats' Health, Stamina, Potency(magic)" They work 100% exactly as ESO does.

    The similarities don't stop there.

Not sure the three stat attribute system is really covered by a copyright or trademark.
Skyrim wasn't the first to do it, depends how deep the consistency goes I guess.

I was half expecting they'd stolen the races or lore with the threads build up.

Not unique to ESO other games have used that setup over the years.

Thanks for not reading the second sentence.

Well, the races are pretty close, the racial abilities are near exactly the same.

50 levels. Who makes a tabletop rpg with 50 levels?

Might be more fun to take any AD&D type ruleset like GURPS, OSRIC etc and simply make a homebrew campaign with TES setting, lore, races etc. You might incorporate some similar concepts like shouts and specific spells etc, but it's not necessary to copy a video game combat system with crits, ability bar and so on. That would just distract from the overall roleplaying game experience IMO.

Game systems/mechanics cannot be copyrighted/trademarked, only specific names for things.

Well that depends on the systems and mechanics, especially in the PnP RPG scene. The only reason there is so much d20 is because of the OGL.

As I said in my other post it depends how many similarities there are. If they're making it exactly as Skyrim/ESO functions then there could be a case. If they just have 50 levels, and three attributes I don't think there is much of a case.

Then again this is Zenimax, they tried to file against Mojang for making a game called "Scrolls".
