Alchemy Writ Suggestion - Nirnroot Overused

Once in awhile, can it be something other than Nirnroot that I have to turn in for the daily quest?

Oh it would be nice for my reward to be Nirnroot once in awhile.

TLDR: I'm running out of Nirnroot but I have thousands of Spider Eggs (take those).

    You only need 3.
And tomorrow you'll need three...and the day after that, and the day after...well, you get the idea.

Usually I find out I'm short when they come up as requirements. Which then means I have to run around looking for them, rather than doing something more interesting.

I have at least 100 of every alchemy reagent so it was quite a surprise recently when I went to turn in the Alchemy writ and suddenly had to go looking for Nirnroot. And it's not like I ignore them - there aren't many times when I ignore nodes. Well, maybe the occasional Stinkhorn or Imp Stool.

Do people really not have Nirnroot? I have 998 in my bag and I don't use these for any reason except for the writs.

To go off topic @Tasear I just had a look at your Dark Priestess Sorc Healer build... wondering if you've tested it on the PTS so far as regen changes are concerned?

... By the way, is there ever a lore explanation for how Nirnroot even exist in ESO's timeline? Last I checked Oblivion made a big deal about it popping into existence a few years after the events of Morrowind...

Some nutty Sorcerer/Alchemist meditated for 12 days, sitting in increasingly more uncomfortable poses, then ate a handful of Dreughwax. This allowed him to travel back in time, where he planted some nirnroot all over the place and made love to a goat. Then he died of temporal Caisson disease trying to get back to his own time.

I ran the entire length of two rivers in Craglorn today and didn't get even one. :( Is there a scourge affecting them? I did a run of four or five alchemy surveys recently, and none of those had nirnroot to offer. I think we need to conserve the endangered species.

3/4 take nirn, 1/4 take tears.

    So there you go.

The demand for nirn is the only thing even remotely making tier-10 alchey writs even minorly on occasion requiring effort. With alchey writs being one of the more profitable ones even with that minimal effort, seems like removing that would be just extra gilding for our golden egg.

I run 8 tier-10 alchey writs a day and 4 tier-1 alchey writs a day (with those four having alchey at lvl 50) because that along with my usual routines of play, various DB supplier visits, occasional run thru certain public dungeons (grahtwood where the monsters are yellow after the quest and nirnroot is all over the place - i go there when it pops on the madness rotation) and the like keep my nirnroot at a fairly stable place.

On rare occasion might have to take the direct gold payouts from alchey writs for a day to buy nirnroot in a store.

Basically, it can be painless if you find the balance point between your playstyle and your expectations. I chose not to put in the nirnroot specific effort to sustain 12 tier-10s a day and still get all the benefits except for the master writ chances off those four dailies.

    Works like a charm.

When we had that Thieve's Guild event and got double resources from nodes in Hew's Bane, nirnroot was one of the things I was looking for just because of that stupid endless crafting writ requirement.

I discovered that there's nirnroot along the river in Hew's Bane, by the way. :)

It seems to have a bit if advantage actually. If you consider overload restores Magicka, option to slot barrier 10% regain and 3k Magicka return. Storm attonach restores 1.4k Magicka return, there's dark exchange still, while major mending is with heavy attacks, so there are so many options.

Definitely still need to tweak around, as I found it more comfortable to have monster helm with regain than health. Either way keeping the pet theme.

Nirnroot is getting worse than Columbine was before ZOS decided to hand over the flower and herbs business to IC grinders.

That would last 10 days... 2 weeks on tops for me. Writs very rarely reward them and if they do it's only the cost of a single writ anyway - unlike provision rewards that each could feed a whole village for a month. Nirnroot also doesn't seem to be included in the surveys.

There is a reason why Nirnroot prices skyrocketing since master writs started. Unlike most other materials needed for writs this requires considerable amount of effort to keep up with the demand.
