Elder Scrolls Online - Redemption Code Problem

I haven't played this game for ages and I had a receipt send to me yesterday saying "You've successfully redeemed a code for The Elder Scrolls® Online. We're applying it to your account now! Your receipt and further details can be found below.". I haven't redeemed any code whatsoever and I can't see a monetary sum anywhere inside the mail, can anyone confirm I haven't been charged with anything? I guess it is some kind of invitation for the upcoming DLC but I just want to make sure.

The code, that has been Redeemed is your ticket into the closed Beta of Morrowind.
If you take a look into your billing history on the account website, you will see a entry dated to yesterday, which says, that your code for the morrowind beta was redeemed. This is an automatic process for selected users, if you want to use that and try out Morrowind in closed Beta is your own decision.

Does anyone know the criteria upon which we are chosen? As I said again I haven't played the game in ages nor do I plan on buying Morrowind. Maybe the use an algorithm that shows money spent in game?(which frankly isn't even much)

same here. I got one but have not logged in for more than 3 months now. Not to mention the fact that I am on PS4 and have not even owned a PC for years, let alone ever started an account on PC for ESO. Are these just generic invites for anyone that plays? Would they not do more good to be sent to people that can actually use them- A.K.A. PC players? It seemed weird to me too.

Based of the feedback you've given, how often you were in PTS, if you were in the beta at launch of the game, plenty of other stuff I presume. Maybe not touching the game for a while is also a criteria, as in: "hey, here's an invite for the closed beta, do consider coming back!"
