Maw of Lorkhaj, Zhaj'hassa the Forgotten - Solo
Notes:
• Patch: Homestead
• Any class can beat this boss - no pets needed. I purposely avoided using pets to prove it.
• The adds outside the boss room were always challenging to defeat.
• Maw of Lorkhaj was set to Normal. It's impossible to solo this boss on Veteran

• Dro-m'Athra Sun-Eaters are most dangerous enemies in Maw of Lorkhaj, so they need to die first. Their negate circles are extremely dangerous to Magicka characters.
• Watch out for Dro-m'Athra Savages. These enemies can shatter your armor, causing you to take significantly more damage from everything that hits you.
• Dro-m'Athra Shadowguards and Dreadstalkers are not as dangerous as the other two types of Dro-m'Athra enemies. However, both of them still have their own dangerous attacks.
• Shadowguards will often charge at you, both immobilizing you for 1-2 seconds and even CCing you as well if you don't block/dodge it. They will also you a powerful Heavy Attack which will knock you to the ground, followed by a powerful execute attack. You need to avoid their CCs as much as possible.
• Dreadstalkers only become problematic when they are left alive too long, causing them to Focus Aim (orange glowing attack requiring a long cast time). Cats they span can be outrun, but also deal noticeable damage when they pile up.

• Very difficult fight - definitely harder to solo than the first bosses of the other three trials (Ra Kotu, Lightning Storm Atronach, Possessed Mantikora)
• Zhaj'hassa will overtime raise five blue obelisks from the floor. When the fifth pillar appears, he will charge his explosion attack. You must hide behind these pillars during his explosion attack or else you will die. Once the explosion goes off these pillars will shatter, and Zhaj'hassa will overtime raise more pillars again.
The catch is that he will spawn one less pillar each time the process of raising them from the floor restarts. Zhaj'hassa will go from spawning five pillars to four, then three, then two, then one, and finally a repeat of spawning one pillar. Afterward he will not spawn anymore pillars, forcing you to die to his next Void Explosion.
• In other words - This is a DPS race. If you do not deal damage quick enough, you will run out of pillars to hide behind when Zhaj'hassa charges up his explosion ability.
• He will shatter your armor when his Maul glows blue and he slams in on the floor. This will cause you to take significantly more damage from all attacks, including cats. It is best to perform the very difficult/risky strategy of avoiding these attacks at the last moment through running away or dodging them (hard to do). Having two cats or more out when shattered often means near-instant death.
• The boss will use a cleave attack which deals higher damage than the normal light attacks, and should be blocked if your armor is shattered.
• Zhaj'hassa will either light attack you as normal after the cleave attack or go for a more deadly triplet of light attacks
• Throughout the fight, you get be cursed. Sometimes it'll even happen twice in quick succession. There are plenty of cleansing pads to purify yourself on, so it's not an issue.
• The inherent lag from Maw of Lorkhaj makes this fight even harder - play late at night or early in the morning to avoid it as much as possible.
• Cats spawn at 80% health (1 cat), 60% health (2 cats), 40% health (3 cats), and 20% health (4 cats). Although not too deadly when alone, fighting 2+ definitely causes plenty of pressure to build. The 2nd cat spawn becomes dangerous. The 3rd and especially the 4th cat spawns are extremely dangerous. High DPS must still be maintained on the boss while you fight these cats, or you will probably lose the fight regardless due to the lack of DPS.
• At both 71% heath and 31% heath Zhajhassa will begin his Shield Phase. A Shield Phase causes the boss to deal continual damage via mini-AoE detonations centered around each player and himself. These are great opportunities to build Ult for when his shield drops (you must deal good DPS or you will die). The 2nd shield seems to more difficult to take down the the 1st.
ENJOY!
