How do people not expect this?

masterbroodub17_ESO
I understand many people are upset over the recently announced changes but ESO has never been and will never be a WoW or FFXIV-type experience because of the amount of freedom we're granted. Your meta build that you dumped umpteen hours into will NEVER be safe unless they just stop changing things period.

Content, skills (weapons, armor, etc), classes, gear.....none of these things are controlled in a game like ESO. The whole idea is to give you a toolbox and expect you to figure it out (with some slight nudges one way or another).

Shake-ups like this are the price you pay in a game that does not force you into one weapon type, one class, one guild, one role.

When any class can equip any weapon, any armor type, and use skills from any guild, on top of possibly being a vamp or ww.....nothing is safe. This is to say nothing of all the champion points and the possibilities they bring with them.

If you are looking for a game where everything is so tightly tuned that you will never have to worry about the meta shifting, I would truly suggest looking elsewhere. Not even out of spite, just the reality of the situation.

I realize this is a major shake-up and not just a small tweak but you can have variety or you can have perfectly tuned content where you never have to think about having to adjust....never will the two become one.

So you expected them to kill templar healers?

That's not even including PvP and PvE mixup, which just makes it more complicated. I'm with all of you on the idea of separation. Seems like it would be easier AND appease the players more if that was done so I shrug my shoulders at that one.

Yes change is inevitable. I don't think the cp changes are that bad. I dont like how they have made the templar a specialized healer no better than a magsorc a specialised DD. Thats what i didn't expect.

That seems to be the big deal. People who have invested hours upon hours of grinding out a meta gear-set and setting their champion points up just right and really nailing down their rotation to perfection....yes.

I can see why too, but I can't understand how people (especially mmo vets) can act like this is some huge surprise. Games like these are never perfectly balanced....never have been.

I also think it's odd that top-tier players somehow blame ZoS for the fact that they themselves sought out and chased a meta. Yes, you put a ton of work into it....but that's the price you pay to be the top of the top. Did these player simply expect to stay on top forever without having to do anything else?

I did think resource management was too easy. Did I think they would do anything about it? No, simply because it's been this way for a while and they could have done something sooner. If I had known they were thinking of it I don't think I would've thought they'd have done it to the extent they have (considering nothing changes, which may be unlikely).

Eh, it's not just ESO. WoW regularly mangled people's builds with patches that utterly changed game mechanics & required new gear. It's totally normal for the MMO genre. Nothing is "safe," ever.

edit: heck, I even remember a time when WoW took a crowbar to how people regained mana, because uber-high-end raider healers were never running low on it. ;)

I've played a korean Grinder that been around for almost 10 years. Really the game is super stale. Sure they add lots of "new content" but it really never changed. The game get boring quick, its really just substantiated on nostalgia, and Epreens. I'm excited that a new class is getting added after about 3 years. Its a good time for such a shake up.

However... With all the DLCs can they keep it up...
